One Photo & Twenty Words: Regression

Oh Abi: thank you for leaving the One Photo & Twenty Words link open long enough for me to find a little story I wanted to tell! Here it is:

The last night before the final exam. The hard work is finished. What to do now? They decided on regression.

...because it makes me smile to think I could have looked out of the window five years and seen this. Or ten years ago. Or even - just about - fifteen years ago. Except that then I probably wouldn't have had a phone at hand to snap it.

I got up this morning and thought about Abi's One Photo & Twenty Words and I looked around for a short little story to tell. And my eyes eventually came to rest on the one thing I've actually been staring at all week: the birthday party balloons..

What does it say about someone when she trips over the balloons all week instead of getting rid of them?

Today I'm joining in with Abi's One Photo & Twenty Words. Oh, how I love this one! I like how it puts me on high alert as I go through my day, thinking about winkling out a little story from something going on around me. I like the contrast between this and some of my longer stories which take me back through the years and always make me feel like I need to start with "let's begin at the beginning". I like how a little story can be turned into a good scrapbook page too. And, of course, best of all I like

Why grab this? Because it was raining and now I get to dream of hot roast dinner followed by cake

all the other little stories. It's good to see where twenty words has taken everyone else. And you can find them all right here at Creating Paper Dreams.
