When get It Scrapped asked for a page about dressing up, my hand shot into the air. Me! That would be me! Ever since my sister and I repurposed an old laundry basket and filled it with a net curtain, my mum's undergraduate gown and half a bridesmaid dress, I've loved putting on a costume. Which is probably why it didn't take me long to realise that I had, in fact, already told many of my dressing up stories.
I thought back to No Show Rose , a page I made when I hadn't been scrapbooking for very long . I thought about my costumes over the years: the witches, the Mary Poppins straw boater, the boy band bow tie (we had a "B" party, I cut felt shaped undone bow ties and the four of us wore black trousers and white shirts), the back to front superman with the blue school knickers over the red pyjama bottoms (you're right: there hasn't been a page about that one, though there's still time); and eventually I found a different story
which pulled all of the others together.
I had to wear a "national costume" for a Girl Guide Thinking Day parade. I had a pretty dress my mum had pulled together with very little notice. But I discovered that that's not my kind of dressing up, unless I'm choosing the clothes. Pulling together a character is much more my style.

Once again you found the perfect embellishments to tell this story!
I think that's why - although it seems a dream to be able to go and *buy* fabulous dress up costumes in shops these days -I'm quite glad we didn't have so much choice. I like the o as my Man pulled together from fabrics and time or those that we made ourselves. (eg. Me in a nightie with rouged cheeks being Aunt Sally from Worzel Gummidge!!!)
A fun theme to scrap about. I enjoyed taking a peek at your earlier style of scrapping in 2009. It is fun to see how we all evolve and how the supplies have changed too. Another beautiful page. I love your crisp white background and how you use the embellishments so perfectly. :)
Such a fresh page & really like the doily & rose embellishment. I enjoyed the tale today of your dressing up & reading your post from No Show Rose. I don't remember ever having a dress up parade at school, that would have been fun.
Such a very pretty page ... all those fresh greens are wonderful. Great embellishments for your theme too - you always seem to have just the thing!
I found some old costumes at my mum's house the other day. Do you remember? I asked my brother. Julie was a gypsy, I was a Japanese lady and my sash fell down the loo... We couldn't remember what he was but the probably a red indian or a cow boy. It was allowed in those days. Again no photos which is odd because dad photographed everything.
I can just imagine you pull all those things from the box and throwing them over your shoulder in search of the perfect item :)
Your storytelling and how you put the story down on the page always make me smile.
Your page design is perfect with all those accessories spilling out all over the page!
Such perfect embellishments for that photo! Love!
A lovely pages & those hat & gloves embellishments are perfect!!
