Memos, Mail, Me: Pass Me That Phrase Book

Monday: let's move today along, shall we? get some chores done, tick a few outstanding items off the list, and then we can break open my Mothers Day Terry's Chocolate Orange (because it's not Terry's it's mine..) I've just realised that I ought to have included it in my picture

It would have slipped - orange-y and perfect - right in there beside my favourite mail from last week.

On Saturday I received two beautiful cards from two stellar card makers. Thank you Alex and Karen! It's not just the making: it's the message writing and the mailing. I know it all takes time and thought and it's very much appreciated.

The other item in the picture is a Norwegian knitting magazine: a Christmas present from Uncle Dave. Uncle Dave knows more Norwegian than I do. Quite a lot more. Last time I hit the fjords I asked him what he would like as a present and he said a newspaper. So when I told him about a beautiful blog - Paper Tiger - I'd been browsing, with stunning photos of Norway and lots of good things to reading about knitting, including where to get hold of a new magazine, it didn't take much of a leap, only a couple of emails, before he was agreeing to navigate the magazine subs page for me, and to gift wrap the results too. Thanks little brother. I do have plans for another Dave sized cardigan: just let me find that phrase book..

That's my mail memo for this week. How about you? Did your post require a phrase book? Or, if you don't want to post about post, went your weekend well? Learn anything new? It is Monday, after all, and we'd love a memo..

Helena, Mitra, Mary-Lou, Ladkyis, Maggie, Deb, Ruth, Barbara, Alexandra, Barb, Lizzy, Honore, Melissa, Krafty Karen, Karen, Maggie and Jane all joined in over the last couple of weeks. Go on, give 'em a wave (and by that I mean, click on the link, say hello, they'd be happy to hear from you..) and have a good one!

Sweet little cards peeking out and I definitely agree that it's not just the making that's important. My high school best friend and I still exchange "real" letters with each other a few times a year. It brightens my day to open my mailbox and spy her familiar handwriting on a nice, thick envelope.

There really is something special about receiving something handwritten in the post isn't there. Someone has taken the time to sit down and take the time to send something personal and it means so much more.
My post (when I get round to finishing it in a minute!) will be all about post created with a different part of the body - clue: little boys and their feet)

Chocolate orange did you say pass us all a piece will you? Sorry I should say please. Actually we have just finished a little bag of champagne truffles I had from younger daughter and she gave them to me a week ago so that's pretty good going!
Do phrase books include such information as knit one , pearl one or cast on or cast off? Not the kind of info you really need on the tourist trail!

what a handy skill from your brother - I can just imagine the google translate totally messing up crucial knitting terminology. have a great week

How about you bringing that there magazine over to my house, I'll put the kettle on and get my Norwegian friend round. You'd like her, she's very crafty (in the nicest possible way! She's the one who finished Mum's crochet blanket).
Lovely handmade Happy Mail ... I'm down on my Happy Mail mission this year. Must do better.

Yay! I managed a Monday post before March was out.....just! Sadly I can no longer eat chocolate oranges, they give me a terrible headache. You'll just have to enjoy an extra segment for me. Still thinking of you and wishing you a restful week.

I'm very much missing chocolate at the moment .... but Easter Sunday isn't that far away and you may think it's yours and not Terry's, but if I were closer .... it would be mine lol xxx

You know what I really enjoy about your posts? Besides the writing...it's the styling and the look of your photos. You take such care. Wish I could do the same. I'm to impatient, mostly:) And that mag...what a good wee bro you have! I've done HOUSEWORK this week! It's a miracle. The Daddy Long Legs spiders were most upset....oh well;)!!

That's a very stylish photo ... What a super brother to take that time and care. My DD would fight you for ownership of a chocolate orange! but I have never liked citrus and chocolate together, so I'd be a great companion while you nibbled yours :). Wishing you a happy week, with lots of lovely crafting things in it.

Just catching up after several days on the road! I had a post in mind for Monday, but our schedule was just too demanding. I can't imagine trying to follow directions of any kind in another language. I frequently struggle with such things in English! Hope you had a lovely Mothering Day and are feeling well.

Oh what a sweet brother! The mail didn't bring anything that required a phrase book but it require a COD payment for duties. Strange when the duty comes to more than what the item cost in the first place. I'll be trying to post this Monday now that I know you're still doing Monday posts - yes I am back! Hope the week has been going great and wishing you a great weekend.

I don't remember ever needing a phrase book for my mail, but that magazine does look like it will be worth it!
