Memorandum Monday: I'll Wager a Fully Stuffed Turkey

Gah! I wanted so much to have it finished. I got back from Granny's last night and knitted at warp speed so that I would have a picture for today.

Sian F
The Wrong Picture: not a pokemon sock but a page, made for a "Nordic Christmas" theme at Get It Scrapped

Because there is a "first" in among the red and white and black stripes of a small pokemon sock: the first time I have tried on for size the sock of a seven year old boy and said

...yep: a few more rows and I'm on to the toe..

Which says something about his feet and mine, though I'm not sure exactly what, except that a size two is a size two is a size two; and after years of hoping, my feet aren't going to grow, but his surely will and I'll be knitting a new pair next year.

also not a sock..

So: the toe. I'll start on it in a minute, after I have strategically placed the mince pie ingredients where a baking-inclined student might chance upon them in between dropping by to ask for a lift to the foot doctor (don't ask) and heading back out to collect her brother from the airport. It's that kind of a day here: when there's a hope in the air that things - Christmassy things - are starting to come together and sheets are being put on beds and rooms dusted and wrapping paper pushed safely out of sight. Oh, it'll be pulled back out again before the end of the week, I'm sure: Uncle Dave will be here on Wednesday. He may have shopped, he may not (there's everything to play for, Sian: what do you fancy?); but I'd wager a fully stuffed turkey that he'll ask to borrow a roll of wrap. That's fine. Wrapping paper I can do. Mince pies (a couple of dozen would start me off, thanks Sian, by my bed, think of them as a reverse hostess gift) not so much. Maybe I should start rolling pastry?

not even close...

With delighted, continued, grateful thanks to everyone who has made a memo over the last year, and to everyone who has encouraged us to keep on writing by waving and saying hello. It has been a real pleasure, each Monday, to drop by and see what's new with you. So, for the last time this year

Deb, Helena, Eileen, Mitra, Mary-Lou, Ladkyis, Maggie and Alexandra

all made a note last week. Go on: give 'em a wave! And have a wonderful week.

Waving & wishing you countless moments of quiet to get "that sock" done & wrapped. Oh yes the baking of mince pies, thanks for the reminder, although I just saw Mary Berry bake a mince tray bake that looks soooooo good.

Happy Christmas & thank you for hosting Memorandum Mondays - my Monday wave is turning into a big Monday hug ...

the exciting air of imminent arrivals for Christmas - a plate of mince pies by the bed sounds an excellent request to conquer jetlag! Thanks for the weekly prompt to blog, and do something new over the weekend. have a fabulous week and Christmas

I do hope it's just the last for the year. I do hope you are continuing next year. I might just cry if you stop as well as Helena stopping Snap. Have a lovely Christmas all of you and enjoy those mince pies when they finally get made.

Does one "borrow" wrapping paper? I guess you are only loaning it to him so he can give it away, and since you're probably included, I guess a part of it will be loaned and returned. And I challenge you to gather up various bits and put it on a page! (Yep, went on a bit of Christmas tangent there, didn't I?)

It is hard to believe another year of Mondays has passed with the delightful weekly nudges you give us to write. They keep us connected, and for that you deserve a big group hug. What will 2017 hold for this bloggy circle, I wonder? In the meantime, I am wishing you and your family the merriest of Christmases and the most bountiful New Year.

My brother-in-law used to shop on Christmas Eve and show up the next day with everything still in their store bags...but it's the thought that counts, right? Wishing you and your family a lovely holiday season!

Yay for your house about to be full! And I'm looking forward to seeing the completed Pokemon socks (once Santa has delivered them). Size 2? Little E is catching up with TBC, who currently is a size 2.5.

I haven't managed to make Memorandum Monday a regular event (some weekends I can't think of a thing that's new or that I learned---though I may just not be focused enought). Nonetheless, I've always enjoyed yours and many of the others that pop up. Reading this one, I'm inclined to write one before the day is over---we did, in fact, do something new this weekend, although photos were a problem. Thanks for leading the way, and blessings for the New Year!

A delight as always to call in and spend a bit of time with you. Monday is my busiest day and I am mostly out of the house but I have so appreciated your regular posts and looked forward to catching up,with all your doings, and to joining in when possible. That cross stitch looks beautiful - black and white is always so elegant. You make such pretty pages! Your Dave reminds me of my own brother - and my daughter too! - when it comes to the present wrapping front. Wishing you all a glorious and restful time with your lovely family gathered round you ... X

Wishing you a wonderful Christmas - I am missing in blog land at the moment, just too many curve balls being thrown at the mo' and something has to give - sadly crafting and blogging for now. But I am ever hopeful that if I can have a relaxing time over Christmas and New Year that I might find some new found energy in January - watch this space!!!

But in the meantime you have a great festive with your lovely family xx

Best wishes

With your clean sheets and wrapping (and hand-making of gifts) you put me to shame. It's a very good job no one is coming to stay with us ... beneath unwrapped gifts and ironing and more ... there is no room whatsoever on our spare bed for a human guest!

You must be thrilled that there's another driver around to do the airport run!

Have a lovely week (send me good-wrapping-vibes!).

Sounds like all the pieces are falling into place for a lovely Christmas, and I bet that sock is now finished, wrapped and ready to have adventures on the feet of a certain young man!
Have a brilliant family time, and thank you for hosting Memorandum Monday. I wonder if there are any more rather brilliant blogging themes that you will come up with for 2017 ...
