Stack Of Cards

So after rubbing the rub ons until I could rub no more on Wednesday, I was still in a mood to work on using things up. It's been a while since I've made any cards, I thought, and my stock of ready-to-sends is at an all time low, so that's where I began.

I took all the scraps and cut offs from my latest layouts - all shapes and sizes - and I machine stitched round the sides of each one

papers from Pink Paislee C'est La Vie, die cuts and tassels by Crate Paper

then I pulled together a random assortment of journaling cards and embellishments, again from my latest pages, so it's all from the Gossamer Blue March kit:

and I sat on the floor between the two piles and grabbed something from one side and something from the other until I had a few stacks of bits and pieces

to add to the fronts of some ready made 5x5 inch card blanks.

I took my pages as a starting point, so you can see that the butterflies and yellow gelato I used recently have made another appearance

and that's what it's all about here at the minute: not using something once and forgetting about it, but keeping it close at hand until it's done. Or nearly: I'd be sorry to have used up my gelatos already. Ah, did I really say that? If you read on Wednesday, you'll know that now I sound exactly like my mother. .

There is such a satisfaction from using all, or very nearly all, of a kit up, isn't there. Lovely stack of cards!

These are fabulous! And having a stockpile of cards to send is a wonderful idea, and something I rarely have.

Your are the best at using bits and pieces and making it all work perfectly together. As for the gelatos, maybe if you don't use them they will dry up too! It's okay to sound like your mom!

What makes me so happy is that scraps need to be used up in your scrap room too! I spent a couple hours making some smaller tags so I didn't have to put the scraps away! And now I have some things ready for Easter! Super pretty! And good idea on the sewing!

Oh I do like all the pattern paper with the roses on them. I like the idea of a 5X5 card but where do you get envelopes to fit? Do you also make the envelopes? Oh I do like the idea of creating stash piles, sitting in the middle & using something from each pile - a very novel, but practical way to get through the stash - you are a genius! Oh yes, tassles on the cards, would you be able to send those through the mail system? We are "warned" constantly about sending anything bulky like that as a letter/card - it is not quite forbidden, but you do not want to tick off the post office in a small town!

I have a stack of 5x5 cards and envelopes (left by Trilby after he did thank you cards when he hit a significant birthday) which would match your fronts nicely  My plan has been to do just this - make up card fronts to match and the idea of making piles and grabbing one thing from each is brilliant so I shall nab it.

Patio Postcards: The envelopes came with the cards in a set and the tassels? Look carefully..they aren't actually on the cards. They are just there to make the photos look nice!

Great cards. I had intended to make cards each month this year but I still haven't got round to it! You have inspired me to get my piles of scraps out and make some cards while I watch TV in the evenings!

Your cards are always so pretty!

Lovely cards and I should do this more - rather than just bung all my scraps into a 12x12 bag and put them away to forget about them - I should get on and just turn them into cards. Thanks for the inspiration

Got a smile out of you comparing yourself to your mother - a good comparison! Like the idea of sorting into piles and then taking from each to come up with a card. Hoping this reply goes better than the last one - it made me do the not a robot thing 5 times on that one. :)
