November at Gossamer Blue

There is something about the start of November which always feels to me like the flicking of a switch. All at once I turn away from mists of mellow fruitfulness and start looking for that sharp November-y ness. You know? Bright lights in shop windows? Dark, dark skies? Clear colours we can see on murky mornings?

There are plenty of beautiful clear colours in The Gossamer Blue November kits. I couldn't wait to get hold of some of the bright blues which always feel right for November to me. But, as is always the way, once I started printing photos and moving papers around I found inspiration in some of the other pieces first. Could I find somewhere for a giraffe? Yes I could!

Along with his friend the rub on zebra (both Amy Tangerine for American Crafts in the Main and Life Pages kits , he made it onto a page about photographing animals. I was pleased to find the big "&" in the Main kit because I was able to use it to emphasize the shape of the gorilla as he sits in the picture.

I wanted to use the white rub ons over colour to give a bit of a printed fabric look and I tried them first over Kraft card before settling on the white

Next, I went black and white (so much for wanting to be blue!) for a page about photographing something every day for Instagram. When I saw the stripes and polka dots, I knew I'd be printing a picture of one of my striped t shirts and it was easy, then, to add it to the frames in the Main kit:

Some black rub ons, from the same Amy Tangerine pack as the white ones, and a bit of black ink over cork

with just a little peek of gold in that doily

And for the my third page? More neutrals. I haven't used a Kraft background on a 12x12 in a while

So I used two of the Life Pages card and the rest of the rub ons, layered. More rub ons? If you haven't used any in a while, seriously: give them a try. Just be gentle and patient, and tell yourself you can layer if you don't like the end result. Bet you will, though. That bicycle is one of my favourites!

Fabulous pages - love the quirky things that you scrap about!

Really clever mixing and matching Sian. I do like the white rub ons over the painted background - must pin that to try. I also like the frames and how you have made a grid pattern on the second LO. I rarely use numbers on a layout - but even though they don't 'link' to the story they make a lovely embellishment. I need to stop worrying about making things 'match' the story or page and just use embellishments because I like them.
I can't choose a favourite because they are all brill.

Ah, but they do link to the story. 7 numbers for 7 days of the week, leading to a page about weekends

Great layouts! I especially like how you used the gorilla photos to capture a story about your photography and the grid design on the second layout. Looks like this was definitely a FUN kit to work with!

So much to love here. The pages are gorgeous [insert what I always say about giving me 'maybe I should scrap' twinges].

And I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments in your last page. Although not an ipad ... it's still technology - mainly Facebook - that informs me of all the interesting little events etc that I've been to the last 5 or so years. I think yes, we were missing out beforehand ... despite what people say about tech being the death of, well, everything!

And, strangely, giraffes are following me around lately. One example is that on that theatre tour I went on, the guide pointed out a large, bricked up area in the wall which, so the old story goes, was where they brought in a giraffe for some musical hall show!!

Happy November. xx

A page for weekend adventures? That would be most welcome here! The B&W page is also particularly striking.

Oh yes, that big & sign does match up with the beast. I take more photos of animals than I do of people... um says something doesn't it?! I like your third layout, very simple, easy to see. Oh rub ons, we are moving into tricky scrapping territory. You do make it look easy.

PS - hope your sinus woes are improving, if not vanishing entirely.

These are brill....love 'em all, especially the 'stripey you' page....very striking! And I adore the way you use the PL cards - keep meaning to get them out..... AND I really like the rubons. They look fabulous:):)

I do love your turn of phrase about the gorilla and his 'career'; you've got a winning way with words AND shape AND colour :). The sharpness of the black and white and gold just makes it squeak into the lead in my book, for you know I always love a grid. You have got such lot of lovely pattern into it, with plenty of breathing room too ... Super!

I love all of these, but the last one really calls to me.
Although I love photographing zoo animals, and I have some fabulous gorilla portraits myself. That's a fantastic zoo page - lovely, quirky elements.

Three fabulous layouts - loving all the neutrals with gold. I haven't used gold much before but have just been on a crafty retreat and virtually all the classes I chose had lovely gold embellishments in them - I think gold is my new favourite thing for scrapbooking at the moment.

Thank you very much for all the cheering on from the sidelines whilst I did Blogtober - it was very much appreciated xx

They are all charming, and I love the black, gold, and white layout--I'm thinking of that combination for my December Daily this year. And do I see lovely black shoes with white trim---thinking I'd like those a lot!

They all look great! I love the 7 days bit on the kraft one. Isn't funny how some animals just act like they are posing just for you?
