One Extraordinary Week: Speeding Up Titles and Embellishing

As someone who enjoys the process as much as the end result, I've never thought of myself as an especially efficient scrapbooker. I lay out what I think I'd like to use, I stir it around a bit, I start setting stuff out on my background..

From High In The Sky for Get It Scrapped

...and then I'm quite likely to sweep it all off again, and start afresh. Or I'll walk away for two days, knit a sock , and then come back to it.

But even I'm starting to see the attraction of fast results. I still revert to my old method when I have time; but for a quick fix? Well, I've picked up a few tricks at Get it Scrapped.

So when I was asked to make a layout incorporating my speediest title and embellishment ideas, I was ready for the challenge.

I've been keeping an eye on my Gossamer Blue Life Pages kit each month, for cards I can use as title and this one "One Extraordinary Week" was on the top of my pile. I wanted to write about how much I look forward to our holiday each year and how I try to take as many pictures and gather as many family stories as I can so that when I get back I have plans for my paper for many months to come. It's a big ask.

To embellish my page I rooted about in my leftovers box and found some Slice cut shapes I had intended for another project, but rejected at the last minute. That little silhouette must be at least a year old. I love turning to my leftovers because if I've picked them for something already, chances are they're in a colour or shape I gravitate towards naturally and it's very likely they're going to fit.

But these are only my quick tips: you can find lots more on the Get It Scrapped blog. This is one of my favourite of their recent articles: there is a scrapbook shortcuts checklist for you to download and use. I think I could do with you. How about you?

Some great tips over there, thank-you; I like yours about flicking through bits of things we've already got. I am sure there's a class to be run on Leftover Scrapbooking :).

Off to have a peek.....I have a feeling I'm almost the opposite....I'm so speedy that I'll often get it down, done then it's too late...... that sillhouette on here is so perfect. I have a firm belief that Some Things Wait for a page, where they then Simply Belong without a doubt! I'm sure your girl was waiting.....love the stitched squares up the top....nice 'tie in' with the PL card :):)

Off to check out the tips. I recently had a reason to look through a couple of scrapbooks I'd finished before I started Project Life. I love that I can "keep up" with memory keeping with PL, but I do miss doing the 12X12 pages. I should insert a few in my PL pages.

I like the idea of the card as a quick title. I always ask a lot of our vacations, too!

A stunning page! Love everything about it. That beautiful butterfly is gorgeous. Quick pages are great.

Socks or scrapping? ! I try for a bit of both every day :)

I'm loving the butterfly/button/floss combo. Would never have thought to pair all that!

Oh I like the banner of blocks sewn across the top - such a lovely touch. That quote is good too - wise words.

Another lovely layout. If I'm doing a bunch of layouts I always make sure that one of them only takes 20 minutes maximum to do!

I like your idea of going through the cards looking for something you could use as a title - that's something I could do with my digi supplies.
