Pairs: The Essential and the Extra

Today I'm adding my two pictures worth to Helena's excellent Pairs photography challenge. I'm calling this pairing...

Essential and Extra...

...because when you go to order a needle in exactly the right size you need, you can't help but add a little something extra to your basket...

or is that just me?

With huge thanks to Sandie, who last week sent me the lovely vintage sock pattern you can see in the picture. It made my day.

not just you - I think it is impossible to buy only one thing from any craft related store. Love the old pattern and your wool

I'm guessing all of us can relate to that experience! Great idea for a pair!

unique pairing! That wool will make lovely socks...

I'd say the wool was fairly essential to sock making. I imagine there won't be many (bar the strictly disciplined) that don't identify with this.

No point in ordering a needle if you haven't the wool to put on it!

Definitely can relate! Love the yarn - can't wait to see the socks!! :)

that's the brand of wool I've been using, it knits up beautifully.

I don't think you are ever allowed to buy just one thing!

Snort! No, it's not just you. Online scrap stores. I need the ink.....did I REALLY need those stickers as well? Winning a prize from an online store. I HAVE to spend the voucher....did I really have to PAIR it with the same amount over and above of my own money???!!! BRILL pair up here. Pairs of pairs and all that......

LOL - of course we must add a little something extra to the basket!

Why not add a little extra? That yarn looks great.

Love your 'pair' [wow .. that's an odd way to greet someone ... apologies ... ]

Did I tell you I'd knitted my first ever line [or 6] of ... erm ... knitting-ness? [On cocktail sticks?] ever since I've been tempted to buy some *proper* needles ... but oh my! I can't even think how that circly thing works. My head hurts just wondering ...

It's definitely not just you that likes to add a little something extra :)

Oh yes, extras are definitely necessary! Great Pair.

It would have been rude not to have ordered a little something extra x

Well, it would be just a shame to have that needle all alone in an envie jetting to your door.
I always pop a few extras into my basket.

It made me smile to see the pattern Sian and I love how you used it in the photo pair.
I'm also tempted to pop extra's into my basket. Especially when it is such a lovely ball of wool as you have chosen.

No, it's definitely not just you! That's a great couple of pictures for your pairing.
