Let's Call It Knit-Let

...to sound like croch-et. You know, that one handed knitting Granny says I've been doing? She can say what she likes, I'm very pleased with the progress I've made this week. Of course, maybe the progress has something to do with the fact this has been GCSE results week..

An hours knit-let in the evening can be very, very calming.

This blanket feels like an adventure for me. All those bright colours, all together, all in one place! I'm doing a Cath Kidston inspired look for our place by the sea, using Stylecraft Double Knitting in Cloud Blue, Meadow, Aster, Silver, Pomegranate, Candy Floss, Fondant, Sherbert, Spring Green and Citron.

Look everybody! I said. It really is turning out Cath!

Don't you need more flowers on it, then? asked The Tall One. To make it really Cath?

And then the colour drained from his face as he realised he had just engaged his mother in a conversation about interior design. I guess that's what happens when you are two weeks away from moving into your own flat. Maybe you start thinking about flowers a bit more.

Lucky, I'm well ahead of him..

Beautiful and bright! You might get by with the colors for the tall one, but I'm not so sure about the flowers!

Looks like crochet to me! And I love the colors.

pretty pretty pretty! i'm using the same wool on the crochet blanket I started but progressing much less quickly. i do enjoy knitting more than crochet so far, i find it easier on my hands.

The colors are so bright and cheery. Think it would be a good thing to have wrapped around you during a blizzard as well as at a cottage by the sea. Much more apt to encounter the blizzard here!

Hope the GCSE results were good. I could have done with some knitting to calm my nerves but all has turned out well with my daughter thankfully. Interested to see that is knitting. It looks so like the cot blanket my gran crocheted my older daughter when she was born. Different colours though!

so lovely, and true crochet has something soothing about it, I've gone crazy with grannies, ... bon dimanche!!

Love that blanket! Hope the GCSE results were great. H got his A* in his early entry maths and J made the grades for Warwick...not far to travel but many road works on the way to traverse.

It is very Cath :-) It is certainly gorgeous.

I hope TNSSO got what she wanted. Lauren did really well to get what she got and is into sixth form, we have a Maths D grade to contend with though.

That looks like the softest wool ever and such pretty colours. Somehow I don't think flowers will feature much in that Edinburgh flat!

That is a really fantastic combination of colours. And a good old "Granny" blanket - they are still the best!
I love that The Tall One was noticing what you've been doing and even had some thoughts about it.
Perhaps he would like you to "knit-let" a cosy throw for the end of his bed - to keep his toes warm on chilly nights (and save him a bit on his heating costs)... maybe you should ask him? But, I have a feeling he would prefer less "Cath" colours, don't you?
I'm in the middle of a "Corner to Corner" baby blanket. Being me, I had to add extra complexity. Because it goes from one corner, across the diagonal, adding a border of a contrasting colour makes it much more complicated. I have five separate balls of wool on the go at once - three in the main colour (edge, middle, other edge) and two in the contrast colour (one each side of the border); plenty of challenge to keep each one running up the edge of its section and to keep the stitches in the correct place! It will be fab when it's finished though - a baby blanket for a friend.
Enjoy your "knit-let"-ing Sian!

Ooop! Too carried away by knits and knots... forgot about GCSE's.
I do hope the Results were as expected and hoped for?
Our lad has done very well. He had an A* for maths and A for biology from last year's early entries; he has added seven more A*, three more A's and a C (Art, done for "fun"!)... plus A^ (distinction) for his Further Maths GCSE. We're pretty proud of him.

Looks like a very pretty way to fight stress - hope the exam grades turn out to be all that wished for.

That blanket is so beautiful Sian, I love the bright colours. I have the flower knitting/crochet book but I'm sure you will use it much more than I have! lol

Lovely colours and TTO is ahead of Princess who still isn't interested in such things. Thought of TNSSO when exam results were announced by nephews - hope what was needed was received.

Always tricky when we discover we are turning into an adult! My Mum would have loved your flower book and been busy knitting and crocheting these for adding to pull-on beanies and lapels. What a lovely phrase 'place by the sea ...'.
