Oh Yes i know what you mean here Sian. Espeically at an occasion, I feel the pressure to take the right photos! Thank you for joining in!

Definitely! One of the reasons I encourage others to take photos - share that responsibility :)

I completely understand, but when I do turn over the camera, invariably, I do not get the shots I want---or even worse, people fail to send them to me!

I totally know what you mean x
Now the children are older I like them to take some too as they see things so differently from me x

Know that feeling all to well - luckily DD is becoming quite the keen photographer so I tend to be in more photos now :)

Hubby enjoys taking photos but doesn't tend to do it as much now as I always have a camera with me

Totally agree with everything you've said :) But it's not often others see the things to photograph the way you see them- and so then it means the pressure is back on you- A lovely set of twenty words:)

totally inspired by your presentation style here - borrowed it for my photo and 20 words

Oh, yes, I'm with you on this. Especially when school asks me ...

I think I prefer being behind the camera....but i do get moaned at for continuously taking photos. So it would be good for someone else once in a while to take a snap or two x x

Oh so true. It is always me to pick up the camera and so I'm never in any photos. Just the history keeper I guess. ;)

My husband will sometimes grab the camera but I am rather critical of his photos :( which I shouldn't I guess now that I read your 20 words and the responses above!!! I'd love for my teen to share more of his life through photos...

Larry said...

Oh I so agree. However the small person is turning into a keen photographer........

My husband rarely picks up the camera and I have to make sure I am in the occasional scene otherwise it always looks like I am not there. I love the way you presented this post... beautiul

I can see from all of the above that you are far from alone :). Himself will take photos but usually of landscapes rather than people, even when he's with our grandchildren.

I know what you mean! Fortunately now Hugh takes the compact camera and takes photos with that, so not only do I appear in photos but I don't have to worry a out missing things!

So true! Now that the little one is here I am always taking the photos rather than being in them. It would be nice to take a break! But then would they capture what I want them to?

My husband is always the one taking photos of unusual things, or landscapes. If I want people in a photo I have to make a special request!

Yes it would be nice to be in the photos sometimes just to show that I was there also.

I totally agree!

So true x

Blushing furiously here ... I am so domineering of the camera that I never see it as a responsibility ... however, the three weddings were a different matter!

I agree with Amanda. Although my husband is a far more accomplished photographer than myself, we are looking for different things. He wants to capture something specific, I tend to want to capture a feeling or mood. I guess between us it works!

So very true!

Yes I know that feeling too Sian. I do give the camera to someone else sometimes, I like to see what they see.

ComfyMom~Stacey said...

I share the feeling but my oldest is starting to get a real feel for the camera. If only I trusted him more to take care of it. :)

scrappyjacky said...

I know exactly what you mean!!

Karen said...

Yes, indeed! I just returned from a memorial service where there was a wonderful slide show of photos of my dear friend. I wondered if there'd be enough photos with me in them to create one!

Jane said...

I agree totally!

I'm not a fan of having my photo taken but I do think we need to appear more in our own albums. That said, I would love for someone else to have the camera once in a while and not spend the day trying to find the best shots!

Carmen said...

You are totally not on your own. I think I have got Devvie joining me now so at least between the pair of us we get a good few :)

p.s my Shakespeare book came the other day - love it! The illustrations are gorgeous!

Love the clever design of this post, Sian! And yes, I do feel that way sometimes. I'm going to ask Carrie to take a few photos this weekend of me holding my new niece! :o)

Sinead said...

I definitely agree Sian that I feel like this at times! While I love my camera and taking lots of photos, sometimes it'd be once for someone else to take the responsibility! Great picture and perspective :) x

Yes I feel this way sometimes too, but I get a little respite whenever my sister comes to visit, she can take 1000 photos when she's here for a week, so I let her do the work then I copy them all off her camera before she goes home! x

DH has done most of the photo duties during out time together. These days we both do photography. What's interesting is the who, what, and how of our images.

I guess I'm lucky in that both of us share a love of photography and share the photo taking.
