The Photo Scavenger Hunt

Round here, the air is cooling, the nights are starting to draw in and summer is nearly over. That means it's time to gather together my pictures and see what I need to finish collecting  for Rinda's Photo Scavenger Hunt. Today I have:

A Horse: Dobbin, the rocking horse bought for me by my Grandparents for my first birthday. He now sits on the landing outside The (Not So)Small One's room.

A train:  I've seen a couple of Thomas trains being entered for this one, so I've gone with the interestingly named Skarloey instead.

Person dancing: a chance to capture The (Not So) Small One on her way to the first dance class of the new year. When she sees this picture she's going to ask if I photoshopped her head. It certainly looks like I might have. But, no: that's way too technical for me..

Statue of an angel: snapped from the passenger seat as we drove past The Angel of the North on  our way through Gateshead in the summer.

and finally my substitute item. This is a special one. It's a heart shaped stone which Rinda brought when she visited and gave to The (Not So) Small One. She keeps it beside her bed. Well, you would, wouldn't you?

Thank you Rinda! I have a couple of pictures left, but if I don't find them I'll still be happy. It's been a lot of fun hunting and spotting what everyone else has come up with. All those libraries..

Incidentally Rinda has a discussion going on her blog at the minute - you might like to add your views if you haven't dropped in already. Word verification: yes or no? I'm not a fan..I don't think my eyes are up to it..

An extra special substitute item there! Now that you mention it, TNSSO's head does look a little odd in that pic - hope she enjoys her dance class.

I took a closer look at the The Not So Small One's head too! Wonderful rocking horse - Dobbin looks as if he has been well cared for down the years.

I might not have notices The Not Too Small One's head, but you're correct, it does look a bit "off." She is, however, adorable. (Probably not an adjective she'd choose.)

What a wonderful rocking horse! Cool interpretations of the Picture Hunt. My tall one loved Thomas too. :)

Love the photos - I had thought of using the Angel of the North when we take Gracia back to Uni.

Seeing your first photo reminded me that there has been a distinct lack of posts from Horsie lately!

i enjoyed seeing your entries for rinda's scavenger hunt, especially that unique angel statue. it is fun to imagine people from all over looking for the same things in their own part of the world.

Head transplants are quite tricky...

What a great horse and yes when I saw train I did think of the basket full I have downstairs!

Brilliant collection of photos, well done on the hunt it has been fun hasn't it. I would love to find the swing but I have a little dish of heart shaped stones now thanks to this substitute item.

Like Karen, your rocking horse made me wonder where Horsey is these days...

Love your photography skills Sian - I need to learn a thing or two from you... or at least finish reading that book I just bought about it!

A bride, a swing or hammock and a person playing a musical instrument are what I need. I might have to ask my cuz to play his clarinet - not something a person ever does voluntarily. It has been great fun to seek out the things and I have enjoyed it.

How precious is Dobbin, he looks so well looked after. Bet your children love him too. A wonderful set of photographs to add to the Hunt.
It has been great participating this year and seeing photographs from all around the world.

What beautiful photos! I love your take on the horse and the train. I bet they have stories to tell, too!
Good luck with the last few on the list, but as you say, even if you don't get them all it has been a fun challenge. I know I am going to miss it.

Well done, I have seen a lot of the scavenger hunt, I hope she plays again next year, I will definitely join in.

Well done on keeping your rocking horse. I loved mine and it has given me an idea for a christmas SS story.

I'll go and check out Rinda's post about word verification. Thank you for not having it.

Wonderful photos - I found quite a few items this weekend when Cheri & I went for a walk (will be posting soon). I have one more to find & I'll be all done.

Popping over to Rinda's to check out the word verification discussion.

That photo scavenger hunt sounds like a lot of fun. I don't know how you accomplish everything you do!

I'm using a substitute too and need to get my photos posted this week! I sure have enjoyed seeing everyone's photos :)

I was thinking of alternative trains to use for that prompt too - but due to our location when taking all the photos I was stuck with the regular old Thomas ... Skarloey is looking fine!

An interesting collection of photos as always, Dobbin is a very friendly looking horse, how lovely that he is still going strong. The substiture item looks very special, I'm a fan of interesting shaped stones!

whatever happened to horsey? I had forgotten about him until I saw you say 'a horse' and an image of him popped into my head!

I'm jealous that your weather is starting to cool--we still have lots of 90-degree days ahead of us until probably mid-November. But then we get to enjoy four months of absolutely stellar weather--most people say that winter is why they moved to Florida. We just have to tolerate the rest of the year in order to get there!

Regarding your scavenger hunt, you likely deserve a prize for the largest angel...

Great photos Sian! Even though my son was a fan of Thomas, I've never heard of Skarloey! And I really want to see the Angel of the North one day!

Nice to see horsey back! I'm not a lover of word verification either - having said that - it still doesn't stop nasty comments, only spammers-as a friend has had some nasty comments on hers lately :-(

Horsey would like to thank his fans for their interest..he is still planning world domination and he'll let you know as soon as he is close to achieving it

I like your train! I might do something like that as well if I keep missing the commuter in town. Thank goodness I don't have to catch it regularly as I have been too late 3 times now

Very resourceful photo-taking Sian. I am taking tomorrow afternoon to hunt down a few more - I don't expect to finish Rinda's hunt - but I intend to make a more respectable showing than the 3 pictures I currently have. And on word verification - I turned it off 3 months ago and haven't had any ill effects.

Her head does look funny in that picture, now that you mentioned it. Love your horse!

Fun to look at your photos Sian... I love the old horse and the Thomas brought back memories of my boys playing with the whole collection when they were younger... the box is still in the garage...
I also look for heart shaped rocks on the beach but they are rare, very rare!

Love that stone! Have to say that Skarloey is my favouritely named train :-)
