The Hats Have It - My Monthly Make

Little E came for a visit yesterday. He brought with him his usual enjoyment of - mmm..everything plus a big box of Rice Krispie buns he'd made himself.

I gave him the hat I'd knitted to keep his ears warm. I wasn't fast enough to catch him trying it on, so here's a picture I took before he arrived:

Last hat I knitted, he looked like this:

I'm nominating the earflap hat as my Make of the Month for Annie the Felt Fairy's Monthly Make. I hope you are continuing to feel better Annie. Take care of yourself!

The pattern came from a neat little book called Simply Knit..Hats by Fiona Bailey.

and I think someone involved must be a scrapbooker!

It's the last day of the holidays here..but that means Autumn is just around the corner. My favourite time of year.

It's close with Spring but yes I love this time of year, and Little E is all ready now with such a splendid hat.

I am sure he will be wonderfully warm, and will always be glad that he had such a nice Auntie to look out for him! Definitely a scrapbooker author, I'd say. Good luck with the back to school/college things ...

Most certainly a memory keeper of some sort involved in that knitting book!! Fabulous hat! Do you know...as we enter every season it feels like a favourite!! I love the feel & smell of Autumn mornings & it always takes me back to starting a new school year...shiny new shoes & brand new, unmarked exercise books!! :D

It's beautiful well done! Isn't it sad that we are needing wool hats in August though, come back summer x

Hooray! I love Autumn too. I have also got out my knitting needles, it feels good to cast on again! Sweet hat, I bet he looks adorable!

I'm hoping he doesn't need that hat too soon!!

WOW! You knitted that fast :-) I wish I could knit, but it seems to be a skill that will forever elude me. We are headed into Spring and the best weather of the year, not too hot and not too cold. I hope it lasts as long as possible as I am really not looking forward to excessive heat.

The hat is gorgeous - lucky Little E! I too wish I could knit, I love all your woolly projects :)

I haven't accomplished a monthly make for August yet, but I have an idea for a quick book for Shimelle's Learn Something New Everyday.

I love that Autumny final photo. Autumny? YES! The colours and the knitting, evenings closing in so more knitting time, for those who can knit obviously.... I will just gaze in awe.

Still too hot here for hats..though Kirsty is knitting one while in Scotland!

It's lovely to see you've been knitting again Sian. I suspect you had to knit a much bigger size than last time as I'm sure he has grown lots since then.

You'll be back in your boots before you know it - and I bet you can't wait!

I love knitting! Mostly I knit socks but on occasion I will knit hats. I also love autumn the best of all seasons. Just as we are exhausted from all the heat, there comes a nice chill in the air that is so refreshing.

Autumn is my favourite time too. What's not to love? Golden colours sprinkled with browns and reds, gorgeous light, crunchy leaves, shops full of Halloween goodness and what else? Oh yes - a new member of our family to meet this year :)

Lovely little hat - ear flaps are just so cute!

Cute hat, I have one quite simulat:) I don't look quite as cute as little E though. Autumn! That's so funny, only today I was talking to my friend telling her how much I liked Autumn....the weather, the clothes, the smells and the colours.

That hat looks pretty good. I've not tried one like that before. My most recent project were some of those wide headbands that cover the ears and fasten with a big button. My next project is going to be a baby afghan for a friend of mine.

That style of hat has been extremely popular here at our place - love the colours you have chosen!

What a lovely hat, it looks nicely non-itchy. As a fellow Autumn lover, I always look forward to getting back in my books, but I don't seem to have been out of them this summer!

I think you may have started a tradition! x

I love earflap hats! Wish I could get my boys to wear them now that they are older. Suddenly earflap hats aren't cool.

Love the shade of blue, I'm sure he will be well spotted with it :)

Yes, we can feel the chill in the mornings and evenings now and while I was waiting for the alarm this morning I could hear the Canadian geese flying - a sure sign of the change in seasons :)

He will look absolutely jaunty with his new hat--love the color and the addition of the stripes.

What a great looking hat. I'm sure little E was delighted with it. As of today it's starting to feel more fall like but that's only supposed to last a couple of days.
