We were driving back up England. Our time on the ship was over and we were all thinking our different thoughts. I was sitting in the front writing a list. Just noting down a few quick reminders of the little details it's good to look back on. It went like this:
I read:
- Bring Out the Bodies by Hilary Mantel which I loved
- The Winter King by Thomas Penn which is about Henry V11 and perfectly conjured up a world of Medieval intrigue for our day in Ghent
- Take Better Travel Photos magazine which I spotted during a service station stop and can highly recommend
- Lonely Planet Travel Magazine. I think travel magazines might be one of my new favourite things
- Bolig Scandinavian Interiors magazines bought in local supermarkets. Very inspiring even if all I can do is look at the pictures.
I ate:
- Danish pastries in Denmark
- Crab cakes and Boston Cream Pie in the middle of the North Sea
I watched:
- The Artist
- J. Edgar
- Mission Impossible
- The Iron Lady
- Wimbledon and football
I always come back with armfuls of tourist leaflets and this year I had copies of the Ship's Magazine too, so I turned my entire page into a pocket, sewing round the edges so I could slip souvenirs inside. The Ship's Log on the final day gave me lots of numbers - how far we travelled each day - so I'm now making a companion "Month in Numbers" layout.

I like this layout. It has great dimension, and all the bits and pieces tell a great story.
You've inspired me to keep better track of things while we travel next month! Love this layout, and I've never thought to make an envelope of the layout to hold all the souvenirs.
Well, that's a pretty good scrapbook page. I love the background paper and all the colours are so nicely muted and soft.
I like the List ideas and the sound of a companion page too.

Wow, you got a lot accomplished on your vacation. It's so nice to be able to do whatever you want without the distractions and obligations of the household! Glad it was a good trip.
the page-as-pocket is a great idea! the details you put on this lo will make your vacation memories so much richer as time goes on. i didn't know lonely planet had a magazine - i will have to look into that!

Please don't get me buying travel magazines....I'm already a bit of a mag addict....I really don't need another type to start reading!!
