Big Boots

Mentioning suncream was a mistake. Of course it was. Since I said I was thinking about stocking up, the rain here has become heavier and heavier. It feels like November and looks like Noah could be in business.

And that means we are back into woolly sweaters and boots:

Not that I mind too much. i have to be honest> being warmly wrapped up is my natural state, even in June.

"I know how attached you are to your coat," The (Not So) Small One said the other day. She knows me well. Last time it reached 22 degrees here the sky was velvety, the river was sparkling - and I put on my jacket. Maybe we need to examine this. It is, as Little E would say, a little bit weird-y. Or maybe we just need to ask his Mum? She's the psychologist. Is it a comfort thing?

Actually, no. Let's not. Let's just say I like to be cosy. In June. In my boots. And you?

Today's layout originally appeared by invitation of Julie on her beautiful Notes on Paper.

I'm actually in a skirt today ... with bare legs. My comfort clothes are layers and lots of them!

I shaved my legs this morning - but just the bottom half - which means it's warm enough here for me to be wearing turn-ups ... but not a skirt yet!

I took photos of myself in the garden last week so I can blog my 'summer wardrobe'. Which so far has mainly been a rain mac + boots.

I hear you Sian, I hear you!

:-)

raining outside as I type - yesterday was our sun quota for the week I think.

I've been resisting boots but have been wearing my jacket and boot slippers in the evening

this kinda expects us to be going outside, yes? Well, it isn't that warm!
I have gone from the fleece lined cotton gilet to a simple fleece one - reducing layer by layer - but going outside? Oooh no only to let the girls out and to put them back in and then I wear my "chicken coat".

Yes it is a bit like saying, 'my baby slept through the night' and then they don't for the next month and you could cry from a lack of sleep!

Ah I thought I had seen those fabulous boots on a LO before. I wore my boots (complete with woolly tights) on Friday, so I'm right there with ya!

I'm all for cotton cable sweaters in the winter, but I LOVE the freedom of summer clothes - wish I lived someplace where I could go barefoot all the time!

I'm definitely the bundle-up type, but there's no need here as it's been quite warm. The forecast for the next few days is down-right hot!

We're obviously having this week's quota of sun today....it's definately warm.....so did I go out without a jacket....definately not....it was there....over my arm....just in case. It needs to be about 30 degrees before I risk going out without it....I like to be cosy too.
P.S. We've actually had a fire lit this month....unheard of.

The sun is shinning here still a little chilly. I have flip flops on...but only because i stumped my toe and its purple now lol!! otherwise my boots would be firmly on my feet.

A love the patchwork feel of your layout Sian.

I'll trade you our weather. Record heat today. What's a girl to do but stay in the AC and scrap? I also have a few clothing items that are on a level with comfort food.

Love how you have included so much detail on this LO and yet have maintained white space. A beautiful LO and I love your boots! I'm always hot so no wrapping up for me. I rarely wear sweaters in winter. "weird-y" hee hee That Little E is just too cute!

Every time I see your boots I want them :)

I too much prefer being in layers hence why Autumn is my favourite time of year. It's been hot here today - no rain. To hot for me, bring back the showers :P

Ha ha, I wore boots last week but I was very unhappy about it:( Today it's wRmet and drier so I have laggings, plimsokra, tunic dress and little cardi on....I even left of the extra 'little vest top for extra warmth' today. Mind you I need layers in a classroom surrounded by windows (that only two open, on the top floor of a 70s school...gets tres hot and smelly up there...

I defintely look better in Winter clothes. Size 16 floaty skirts andcropped tops are just not a flattering as Size 16 fitted jumpers and dark trousers

It'll be something to do with your Mum's dire warnings about being prepared and wrapping up warm when you were little. I know mine did :0)

It's a job to know what to wear as the weather is so changeable. Love the boots, and I'd love a velvety coat too. Wear what you love, I say!

I'm afraid to say that if I lived where you live I would be bundled up ALL the time! It's so scorching hot here in Arizona right now - it will be several months before we see "boot weather."

PS: I just had a little email from Rinda and she mentioned that she is meeting up with you this weekend. I'm SO excited for both of you. You will absolutely love Rinda! Hug each other for me. :o)

Yes, I'm with you on the layers. I've managed to do without my boots for a while now, but probably because I mostly have not been able to manage without my trusty jeans!
I risked a skirt on Saturday, when MIL came for lunch... Back in jeans on Sunday...
My sandals have been out of the cupboard twice this summer (once was for an indoor party!).
Today it was sunny (amazing!). I still had jeans.. but no cardi. And I wore... summer shoes!!
The trainers and cardigans are still handy though, along with my trusty raincoat!

It's hard to believe it's chilly there when it is so hot here. I'm sure summer will come for you soon!

Oh my goodness, absolutely no boots here in Texas in June, unless they are cowboy boots, of course. None of those comfy, lined boots designed to keep your feet warm - the temperatures alone will keep all parts of you warm.LOL

My comfort clothes are as little as possible at the moment! i usually revert to dresses, as most days even cropped trousers are too much for me!

Our temps are hanging in the 90s (F) this week so the thought of layers and boots is overwhelming. I love the heat and summer clothes, so glad I live in the South (US).

Jimjams said...

I need a bigger wardrobe to accommodate BOTH summer and winter clothing (and footwear) this year - crazy isn't it!

Anonymous said...

I like comfort clothes and can quite often be found with a thick wooly on in summer.

Wanda said...

There's no help for it--being warm and comfortable is important--and if that means layers & boots in June, well so be it! (but I do hope more pleasant weather returns to you soon)

Gem's Crafts said...

You'll quite often find me in a big jumper even in the summer, I feel the cold really badly!

Clare said...

I've only put my winter clothes away today so boots and a coat are just fine with me!

Lisa-Jane said...

I'm the same, I love being wrapped up in my blanket when I am on the sofa regardless of the weather outside my front door!

Missus Wookie said...

I'm in shorts, t-shirt and bare legs/feet but have pulled on an overshirt as we dashed out to the garden centre and am now snuggled up on the couch with yes a snoring cat and some quiet time - so my legs/feet are covered with a light fleecy blanket.

I like my coat and boots but really would like some more sunshine...

I'm another one who likes to be cozy! Great page x

Cozy rules Ok whatever the weather! I love your page - and they clearly go well with so many of your things!

Definitely don't want to be cozy around here lately - we've had record high temperatures for June and even some bad air days (smog). I've been hiding out in the air-conditioned house. Now winter I definitely want to be cozy though.
