Pinata, Pinata

We like pinatas in our house. We have two teenagers who love to hit things with big sticks.

We are also pretty cheap. And so, every Easter we bash the pinata, take out the sweets and then carefully bang the dents out so we can use it again next year. This works until someone causes serious damage and we have to admit defeat and hunt out a new one. Took a while this time round - I even thought I might be in for some quick papier mache (papier mache is never quick, though, is it? That's one of the rules of crafting with small children. The more they stick it on, the faster it falls off). But Marks and Spencers produced the goods and the light fittings stayed intact and all was right in the Easter Pinata world. For another year.

For this page I used some Crate Paper Pretty Party (which Sandra is stocking at Gotta Craft) and a doily which came carefully tucked inside a card from blogging friend Jacky. Thanks Jacky, I've been saving it! Feathers cut with the Slice "Aviary" card and flower from punched circles.

I've said it before but I really LOVE your layouts - thanks for sharing, you really inspire me! Love the theme also, who doesn't love hitting a papier mache ball with sticks - especially if there are sweets inside :) Have a lovely day xx

We've never had a pinata either...which actually surprises me, as it's exactly the kind of thing Kirsty would enjoy! Lovely LO...and I must make one of those flowers!

This made me smile. We have never really had one but looks like so much fun. I like your make do and mend attitude to it as well!

I've never heard of pinatas at Easter before. We're home and I'm taking time to catch up with blogs. I always enjoy catching up with your beautiful layouts and photos!

Wow, I adore all the itty bitty details on this page. And there are certainly days when all of us could use a little pinata-busting!!

I love it! I first noticed the gorgeous yellow feathers on the woodgrain background and then your fun homemade flower!

Love the flower,Sian...the colours match so perfectly with the pinata [something we've never had].

Lovely bright layout. We have had pinatas in the past where you pull the strings - easier to rescue but not as much fun as bashing them!

Never heard of Easter pinatas - does that mean the Easter bunny doesn't visit?

A fun tradition! I love these papers choices. The flower is terrific and I love that feather diecut! Never seen one before. Hey, feathers could be the new craze! They look so good on your page! :)

Like Karen and Laurie said, we don't have a pinata at Easter tradition. Although I don't see why not!
Thanks for the great idea.

pinatas are fun, aren't they? I like your thoughtful addition of the feathers on the page - a nod perhaps to the easter chicks as well as the feathery crepe paper of the pinata? x

We love pinatas here but tend to make new ones each time - Wookies are harder on Pinatas obviously. Also means you can challenge me to do hard ones - like a death star or octopus...

I like the little top edge cluster so pretty.

A beautiful layout, I have never tried whacking a pinata...maybe one day!

You know, you are the first person I have ever heard of re-using a pinata! They get smashed to smithereens down here!

What a great tradition, I dare not try it here for fear Phoebe and Devon would take the bats to each other! :D

Enjoyed reading about your Easter bash. And how thrifty you are! One year I was in Spain at Easter time and there was a parade where children followed a man with a pinata (a bit like the Pied Piper) along the streets and then they all got to smash it on the steps of the Cathedral. The sweets were then thrown to the crowd. Happy memory. Another lovely page, by the way.

My MIL would be very pleased to hear of your make do and mend pinata. My SIL bought one a few years ago for the Christmas festivities and MIL has been patching it up ever since!

Ha ha! I've also never heard of a pinata being re-used! They scare me a little, but that might be because the kids parties I go to are for 3 or 4 year olds and arming them with a stick generally means they'll soon be tears!

Great page, I love the doily. x

I'd never heard of a pinata before until I went on my friends hen do, one homemade pinata in the shape of something decidedly rude!
