A Good Grey for January

Oh grey gingham check, I think you might be my favourite of all the patterned papers in this month's Midnight Rooster kit.

So many different ways it could be used. I went for a country look in the end, with a sixty year old photo from a diferent time, a different life. I wrote straight onto the Studio Calico tissue paper Scraps, just a brief note about the days when a girl could get out and enjoy the sunshine; and her legs did what she told them to.

My second page uses a photo from our Norwegian holiday last year:

I liked that added-on building. It made me wonder if women were the same the world over, through the years, all of us looking for a little extra space. Just to keep things tidy.

The tag is another handmade Midnight Rooster special. And the little hearts?

I cut those from the packaging Tobi created specially for the embellishments in this kit. She thinks of everything. I have nearly used it all, but my scraps asre safely packed away inside the plastic folder they arrived in.

That's me for today. But please do drop back tomorrow for my contribution to Pass the Page

I had just finished getting through my google reader and then your post popped up, how lovely, especially as I was going to hoover the stairs...
I love the gingham check too, but that red floral is what really has drawn my eye, I need a blouse of that for the summer.

I love the photos and of course what you have done with the layouts is top-notch as usual.

I agree with your space comment and that photo proves that it can be done! I may show the hubby to see if he could design one for me.

I love the pages as always but particulary the second. You have a knack of putting elements on a page and they look well placed - mind tend to look plonked on if I'm not careful!

The gingham check definately reminds me of times gone by....just perfect for that first page.

Both the gingham and the woodgrain make brilliant backgrounds. I'm assuming that's your Mum in the photo? What a wonderful shot to have :o)

Love the gingham, not so keen on the woodgrain but I love both of the pages you have made. The country feel of the first is just perfect - what a vision of freshness and freedom and clean unpolluted country air it gives. The second is a typically quirky one from you - what a great way to have an extension - and how perfect to paint it in such a stand-out colour.

Loving those layouts Sian, that gingham is fab. I think I have a very similar sheet of the woodgrain paper lurking from a recent quirky kit - I wasnt sure what to do with it but I might just get it out now and get a layout done with it :)

I'm a big fan of the gray gingham too, Sian, but even more so of the lovely page you created with it. I'm loving the projects you've made with this line!

This line of paper has you really inspired! Both pages are fabulous and my interest is aroused by the black and white photo and talk of legs doing what you want them to do ...

I love your thought, Sian, that women the world over look for a little space they can just keep (and it stays) ... tidy. That says so much! And gingham is such a wonderful tidy fabric, with grey so very classy yet weathered and country too. Perfection.

I never thought of grey as a cozy color until now. I do like your scrapping style.

Both lovely pages Sian but I especially like the gingham with the black & white photo. What a lovely way to display family photos.

Are the edges of the gingham paper pre-distressed? If not, how do you achieve that look?

Yes, I think women world wide and through the ages strive to carve out a piece of space and time they can call their own.

I love both of the backing papers - the check is perfect for the farm girl photo and the woodgrain is a great match for your holiday photo. The Midnight Roosters kits look amazing another one to add to my wish-list!

I like gingham, lots of memories and really like the texture on the letters.

Fun second page - I'd have presumed the extra bit was to house a hoist to lift heavy things up but I like the idea of a bit of extra storage. Especially since I've been sorting and purging and discovering extra room today.

Both pages are lovely, but that mix of gingham and the farm photo is perfection!

I love those papers and your layouts are gorgeous

Love those papers! I hadn't thought too much about grey but now I'm rethinking it for layouts. Your comment about the one photo being 60 years old gave me a start when I realized hey wait a minute it's younger than me. :)
Hmmm, can't comment via typepad so hoping the google one works.
