Slice It Up, Slice It Down

Yes, after months of umming and ahhing, I have finally given in and bought a MM Slice. It's taken me a while - I've never, ever spent that much on a craft item before - but it already feels like a good buy. I spent Sunday happily cutting up a favourite sheet of paper (from a Gotta Craft kit) into hearts and flowers

and then I turned them into this:

Pinterest again. What can I say? I'm obsessed.

Don't forget - you can still leave a comment here for Tuesday's Pass The Book. Or here at Deb's for Expressive Photography; or here at Beverly's for A Homemade Life

How comes I've had my slice for ages and never achieved something as amazing as this :)

I really like that page - it feels restful on the eye. I know what you mean about spending - I tend to deliberate long and hard before buying anything. Have fun playing with your slice.

Well, considering you've only just bought it, I'd say you were well on the way to becoming a Slice Grand Master - beautiful page and I'll bet it gets pinned too!

Love, love, love what you've done. How does a Slice work ~ is it like the Cricut?

great layering - something I have never done comfortably. And I really like the staging

Wow I just love, love everything about your page. The colour, your brilliant use of your new toy and the fact that it's about Pinterest. Just lovely :)

scary investment! hopefully it will open many new doors. my trick is always to ask for big investments as presents - that way they come guilt-free ;-)

Lovely page; I just joined Pinterest. I'm almost afraid to start pinning for fear I'll never get out of there! I love my Slice, but you remind me I haven't used it in awhile. What Design Card(s) did you choose?

Awesome page! I just joined Pinterest, too and I am quickly becoming addicted!

love the white, love that you documented pininterest (they still haven't responded to my request to be a part of all the fun, but alas I digress), love the diecuts from the MM Slice, they are perfect for your page!

Beautiful page Sian! I'm going to have to find you on there (Pinterest I mean)... And I don't own any type of cutting machine yet. Still not sure I would really use it.

It looks like you made the right decision buying your Slice - that LO is amazing! Love it!! I think you won't regret buying it. I love my Cricut, even though I don't use it as much as I should it feels great when I do create something with it. I'm not letting myself even look into what Pinterest is all about - I don't need another thing to be obsessed about! LOL

Congratulations on your Slice purchase, I love mine! You were so smart to cut a batch of things to use on your beautiful layout. I love to have Slice sessions and cut a bunch of stuff, but find I don't use it if I only want one or two items.

I googled images of a slice to see what it was and it came up with pictures of a wrestler. He must be able to cut out pretty shapes very delicately with tiny scissors and deft fingers because your page is totally beautiful. I love it!

P.S. Where are you going to keep him? Does he have to be fed? So many questions...

LOL Miss Smith! Love the idea of a wrestler sitting on the counter of your craft room! This layout is absolutely stunning. I love how clean and elegant it is and how you've used just one sheet of PP but to such great effect. I am pinning this rightaway! (do you get notified when someone pins something of yours?)

Like Rinda....my hands are over my ears!!!!! But I love the page you've created. Not sure how the slice differs from other die cutters....but I do love my Big Shot....when I remember to get it out and use it,of course!!!!

It's absolutely lovely Sian, the colours and the layering and the white cotton on white is such a great touch.

Love that page Sian. I have yet to get to grips with Pinterest. I am sure once I do it will become an obsession!

Oh Miss Smith you do make me laugh...very good!! Loving the yellow Sian and it looks like you are already a dab hand with your wrestler xx

Really pretty, Sian - and looks like you and the Slice are going to be as good buddies as you and Pinterest!

I have to say that I am with Rinda on this one ... I have joined and everytime I go over there I have to set the timer ... it is far too pretty! I am steadfastly refusing to pin anything because once those floodgates open there will be no stopping me!

PS This layout might be bordering on 'simple' with all of that white space Sian!

Beautiful fresh page, love all the butterflies. I remember when I first had my Robocrop (aka Craft Robo) I had a great time 'cutting' things.

Beautiful page Sian, I really must go and look at this Pinterest - hmmmm-or should I ?? lol

Wow, Sian! This is just *stunning* :) Definitely the right decision to get a Slice (wrestler or craft version...) if it helps you create layouts like this!

PS I blame you for my own Pinterest addiction ;)

Great use of The Slice for creating this lovely LO. I love those wooden butterflies, are they templates?

I am with Mel in laying the blame squarely at your door for the Pinterest addiction!!

a totally adorable layout - i have a cricut and don't use it often enough. i need to take inspiration from this gorgeous layout to get it out and use it again.

I feel the same way about my Sillhouette!! I LOVE what you did with those hearts & flowers...I also loved the idea of Pinterest...BUT I have to steer clear because using it freezes my laptop...every time!! :(

That looks awesome. I've resisted the Slice so far but I'll probably cave eventually. I love the look you got, using all the same pattern paper with a hodge podge of cuts. Very cool idea! :)

Looks like you'll put your slice to good use, I'm like you, I deliberate for a long time before I take the plunge and buy something (I would have to add that to a page about things I have inherited from my Mum!)

A new toy is always fun - you've certainly put yours to very good use. What a great page. I like that you have really kept it very simple, in terms of colours etc. Just the photo and the cut-out embellishments. Very stylish, great fun and rather pretty too!

Can't quite get my head round Pinterest yet. I think it's because I have been so busy - I'm a bit afraid of "being sucked in"!

I like the layers - so pretty.

I've signed up for pintrest but not done much exploring yet. Slice is one thing I keep looking at... a friend keeps raving about her's.

Ooooh! I'm so glad to hear that you splurged and got yourself a Slice. You'll love it, Sian. And you're already making great use of it! :o)

I keep thinking about one of those cutting machines. Been thinking foir 4 years actually :D But don't know how they all differ and don't know if I would get the use. I am famous in this house for buying tools and then selling them to buy more tools, sometimes without even having used them... Cuttlebug > BIA > Meltpot > Cuttlebug again which am now thinking about selling again... um, think I should stick to the craft book obsession eh?

I adore your page though and in complete agreement with the subject :) Though someone told me recently they use it to replace buying/borrowing craft books. Never gonna happen.

p.s am amazed how many people have emailed me and told me they are secret Danny Kaye fans :D Big smiles here :D
