Five Reasons For Me to Cheer This Weekend

I'm feeling cheerful on this lovely Saturday morning:

1. Ruth has sent me one of her World Book Night books - Gabriel Garcia Marquez's "Love in the Time of Cholera" - and I'm going to crack it open this afternoon.

2. I've recently discovered I love mustard after avoiding it for years. There's always something new to learn in the world (but does anyone know if it's possible to overdose?)

3. It's only another week til the Formula One season starts. Sometimes I have a need for speed.

4. I've just found They Draw & Cook. If I could draw I would make scrapbook tutorials just like this. (And that reminds me - did I tell you about the rosettes I made for the Gotta Craft blog?)

5. I have two new linen shirts for the summer and I want to take a photo of them looking pristine..because I'll never be able to launder them like this again.

Great tutorial - thanks for the link and I, too, am in awe of the drawn recipes - brilliant! Hope you like the book - I found it very moving.

Sian - if you've not read Garcia Marquez before, I'd definitely recommend you start with his 100 years of solitude.
LOVE your tutorial for the rosettes - had always wondered how to make them, LOL, and now can see myself making lots of them for wrapping presents!
Beautiful necklace on top of your pristine shirt! I always think linen shirts look their best when they're looking a bit wrinkly and worn in!
Have a lovely weekend!

I discovered about 10 years ago that I love mustard, all the different varieties and now a cheese sauce just aint a cheese sauce without at least some English Mustard and some wholegrain. A ham and lettuce sarnie is made perfect with a dash of pepper or a slather of mustard :P And a hotdog just aint a hotdog without it.

When I was pregnant with Ruby I couldn't eat anything for the first few months and then I walked past a McDonalds one day and suddenly craved a cheeseburger. I realised it wasn't the chesseburger but the ketchup & mustard and for the rest of my prenancy as long as everything had a side of ketchup & mustard... I could eat! Anything - salads, stews whatever :D You know you've eaten to much though if your nose starts burning *g*

Psst - you should link this up to Virginia's Rocking Friday ;)

Great reminder to me that I haven't cracked a book in a week or two. Maybe this weekend. It's funny you mentioned mustard, because the title of another book I added to my list this a.m. is Alan Bradley's A Red Herring Without Mustard. I've never tried herring, but if you haven't already tried it, mustard rocks on those large soft pretzels. Enjoy!

I'm a fan of white linen shirts, and mustard and cracking open new books too, Sian - though I think I'll have to leave you enjoy Formula One all on your own, alas! Great website - I bet you COULd draw, you know ...

Happy Weekend to you :) ... something about the sun shining and seeing new spring/summer clothes makes me feel happy. Enjoy your book - I think I'll sit myself outside with a book or magazine this afternoon too.

That's a great book, hope you enjoy it. Love your necklace as well as your new shirts. Isn't pristine linen an oxymoron!

I love that book - very dreamy! I also like mustard, especially with lentils. I also really like forumula 1 racing, although I haven't been to a race in a long time. Did I ever mention that when I was in college I used to work at sports car races (and once the Long Beach Grand Prix)? Maybe that would make a good story for next month. And, I agree, clothes never look or feel as good as when they're brand new.

Sian. Lovely though you are, if you could scrapbook, make tutorials, tell stories really well AND draw amazingly I would have to hate you*.

As it is I'm almost choking with envy over how crease free your linen looks!

*Just kidding. I'd still love you x

Love the shirts :) reminds me I should start looking for summer clothes soon. Mustard, however, I can use in small doses but certainly wouldn't worry about overdosing on!

Lots of fun stuff!! I really need to put away the scrapping at some point and read a book! Having said that, I love those rosettes! I have that punch and should make some of these. Your new shirts look lovely! FYI My DH is known to eat mustard sandwiches. Yuck! He is somewhat addicted to mustard!

I love linen shirts but I'm not always fond of how they look by the end of the day! Your rosettes are gorgeous. I'm going back over there to read the tutorial more carefully. I've had mixed results with my efforts. As for the book, I tried that years ago, but didn't get through it. Be sure to let us know what you think; perhaps I should try again.

There are a couple speed fans in this house as well :) Now that website is too cool, who knew such a site existed? Amazing illustrations and they print so lovely.

Beautiful rosettes and lovely shirts. I love French mustard but English is too hot for me.

Funny that you have just recenly discovered liking mustard. It's one of my hubby's FAVORITE condiments. I could take or leave it - and only in small amounts.

I checked out your rosettes and left a comment on the other blog. Very nice!!! :o)
