Let's Away to London

We had a virtual tour of The Globe Theatre in English this morning, said The Tall One as he worked his way through a packet of biscuits. The teacher asked if  anyone had ever been and I said Hell, yes. I was there a month ago. I knew what he was doing. Round here it's called "trying to get a rise out of your mother". He probably said nothing of the sort. So I ignored it, and reached for the photos again.

I'd always wanted to visit Shakespeare's Globe and it was everything I'd been hoping for. Atmospheric, arresting, the real deal. Truly a complete replica.

Best of all were the displays of props and costumes, the story of behind the scenes. What's going on, when the actors are on. I love it. Maybe it's because I had a bit part in the School Drama Society, once, as Head of Stage Management - which started with a big cardboard box of junk I'd collected; and ended when the police were called to the Last Night Party. But let's not go there today. Let's away to London and I'll show you the page that I made.

That is absolutely gorgeous Sian! I love all the vintage-style embellishments.

Ha, The Tall One is obviously well practised at the art of Mother wind-up... but not as skilled as he would like! My DS is just beginning to get to grips with this ancient and sacred teenage practice... He scores more hits tham misses just now - I obviously need lessons in Ignoring Him!

We're off to London at the end of October, to stay at St. Paul's (the area, not the Cathedral) for a few days. Last time, we walked past the Globe (in fact, we actually ran inside to borrow their loo!), but didn't have time to go and look round. This time, I think we should do something about that!

I like the way you've positioned the photos on your layout, one above the other. The background paper is fab and the embellishments are just wonderful. It's a lovely page - another Sian triumph, I think! Great title too!

Ah, beautiful!

Your back stories do make me smile Sian. Oh how I see echo's of my Devon there or... 'Kevin' when Mother is on a wind-up retalliation mission. And yes, that one is guaranteed STRIKE every time ;)

Love this page, we are also hoping to get to London in the near future - we actually had a couple of trips planned over the holidays but they zipped past before we had chance. Devon wants to go see the Imperial War Museum and I want to go see a couple of the art galleries and other museums.

Love all that texture, Sian ... and I remember our own visit to the Globe some years ago! Yep, the Tall One is doing his best to hook you in, and I can see you're not taking the bait. Always the best way. It really tees them off :)!

Gorgeous page Sian! But my favorite part is probably the title . . . I love a good turn of a phrase.
Also definitely want to hear more about your backstage life! Your post also puts me in mind of that great movie "Shakespeare in Love" . . . wonder if Clara's ready for that one.
We love theatre and used to go to the Ashland Shakespeare Festival way back when. We waved at The Globe when we took a boat up the river in London but (sadly) did not go visit.

Gorgeous page Sian, so many beautiful textures, I wish I could see it in real life!

I went to the globe to watch a play years ago. It's such a beautiful building. But not the best place to be standing for a whole play when your feet are sore from wandering around London all day, and then it starts to rain. Teenage me did not appreciate the grandeaur when my hair was getting wet! xx

ah, Shakespeare. Even though I studied the Bard to a fairly advanced level, my fiance's the one who loves him. Perhaps because he sees it from a stage perspective (being an actor at heart) whereas I prefer merely the language (hiding in the wings). Love the colours on this page x

Love the layout - great close-ups of the details :-) The folded paper strip is fab! xx

(And I love The Globe, too! I saw The Merchant of Venice there a few years ago, it was a great experience.)

Beautiful layout and the background paper is just perfect. I love the pleated folded paper. Is the mauve flower a prima one?

Another place that is on my 'to do' list. Looks fabulous, I want to go even more now! I was a bit of an English Literature geek when I was doing my A level and still remember a fair few Shakespeare quotes (please don't tell anyone) from 'the Scottish play' and Ant and Cleo. Would love to go and see where they were performed.

Pretty layout! And lol - I know that game too here, the trying to get a rise out of your Mother game. Why? lol And oh would like to know more about that Last Night Party! ;)

The police and the last night party?? Details, please! Absolutely stunning LO, I love how you've pleated the paper, all perfect for those photos. Is it too awful to confess that I have yet to set foot inside the Globe?
