Ah, Spring

Mmm, Spring really is coming I think. I found cricket whites in the ironing pile yesterday; the mornings are a little brighter; and it feels like love is in the air here at High In The Sky. Valentines Day is just around the corner and we're all feeling the effects.

If, for example, you are an eleven year old girl, you might notice certain boys trying to draw attention to themselves with desperate acts of derring-do. Like going out onto a school fire escape and putting a fist through a window (showering you with glass), just so you'd notice. This one resulted in The Small One coming home with a bandaged wrist (no glass near her face, luckily); and the boy in question going home with, ahem, a detention slip.

If you are a fifteen year old boy, you might notice a vigorous increase in the number of mobile phone calls and texts you receive of an evening. Time will tell. The school choir is running a delivery service for singing Valentine telegrams on Thursday.

And me? My Valentine has on offer the biggest treat he can possibly think of. A trip to Ikea on Sunday afternoon. Oh yes. He certainly does know how to show a girl a good time. I'm not too downhearted, though. Because you know as well as I do by now that thinking about flatpacks always puts a certain spring in his step...

I do have a Spring page to show you. It's one I did last year (it was published in Scrapbook Inspirations); but I wanted to post it because it shows the dollshouse Grandpa made. The photo was taken nearly thirty five years ago..and the dollshouse is now nearly seventy five, I think. I have loved every single one of your wonderful Grandpa comments, and especially your own stories of special Grandads of your own. Thank you.

Lovely layout! I really like the green (paint?) on white. The red pops, but doesn't feel Christmas-sy! Fab.

Wonderful layout,Sian....I love how it looks so textural.....and the 2 journaling shapes you've used.
Sadly.....it does not feel like Spring is coming here.....it is freezing cold....trying to snow...so I'll just have to take your word for it.
If this is what boys are doing to get the Small One's attention now....I dread to think what they'll be doing in 4 years time... be very afraid!!

Ah... I see you've been an amazing scrapper for a while now. Your LO's are always so utterly gorgeous!
We had a fluttering of snow here yesterday... so it still feels wintry here - not that I'm complaining... any excuse to stay wrapped up warm with a bagful of scrapping stash to keep me amused :)

Yes it is beginning to feel a lot more like spring - especially as the school hols are only a matter of days away. What a gorgeous spring page I love your style - fabulous.

This is one seriously pretty LO especially in my favourite colour green. Can I ask was it the lesser spotted green knee cricket whites or the one red leggy type you found in the ironing basket?

Absolutely love the colours you used on this layout.
Valentines day at IKEA, you need to leave some brochures for Paris out next year!

Fabulous layout. I love all the embellishments, especially since I can never seem to pull this style off. But I do love it. Three to five inches of snow predicted here for tonight. Would love a sign of spring!

Feeling so totally jealous that you are seeing signs of Spring. We still have 3 or 4 inches on the ground from the foot of snow we got over the weekend and we are expecting another foot tonight/tomorrow. yeah. not. Ikea? I came right out and asked for dinner & a movie WITHOUT the kids. We'll see if the Computer Geek does any better at delivering than The Accountant.

Oh, Sian, your layout is gorgeous! And you lucky girl - getting to go to IKEA on Valentine's Day!!! My hubby hates that store, and the only way I can ever get him to go is if I've already picked out what I'm buying and he HAS to be there to help me move it with his truck. (haha)

Have fun!!!

We did have some sunshine today but it was still cold out. I'm enjoying the tulips my SIL gave us on Sunday - they're my reminder that Spring is coming!
I wouldn't mind Ikea on Sunday ;o), I don't think my DH has ever stepped foot inside one. He tells me to take his car and unloads it for me when I get home lol!

Sian, I have this copy of Scrapbook Inspirations - -the mag was quite difficult to get in Australia but, I have the one with your page in it!
Is detention all that crazy boy went home with? Did he go via hospital with severed arteries?
I hope you and The Accountant can gaze lovingly towards one another through the shelves of the flat packs ;-) hehehehe

Lovely scrapbooking! I am sure your Grandpa would be proud and delighted.
Not seen anything of Spring or Valentine's up our way - not sure DH even knows when it is! He probably knows it's Shove Tuesday and pancakes next week, though! alexa

Ikea sounds like a great way to spend Valentine's weekend. I'd love a shopping trip there soon. Love your layout, too. I think I have that background paper but wasn't sure how I wanted to use it. Yours is great!
