How do I make a start when I'm planning a page? Mmm..most of the time I pull out all the pieces I know are stuffed in bags and boxes and I pile them up on my desk and then, gradually, I start laying them out on a fresh sheet of cardstock. I shuffle and stir and move it all around. Sometimes I'll think I'm done and I'll walk away; and then when I come back I swipe the whole lot right off the page and begin again. Is that what's called working organically? Or possibly just making it up as you go along?
Either way, I very rarely use a sketch. Unless, that is, someone clever points me in the right direction, or prods me pretty hard towards something I might like. And so we have my version:

You might recognise the photo: it's one I took when I was telling the story of the Cola kit we received as a Christmas gift. It was about time that tale made it onto a page. After all, we've still got the box of cheese making equipment to cover...
...we're building up to that one.
For now, I've gone a bit Stars and Stripes . With those new Converse in the house, how could I resist?

ReplyDeleteI found I often think in sketches and I take photos. I like the US theme here and the stylish photo. Have good memories at making root beer in the under stair cupboard.

ReplyDeleteI rarely use sketches myself. Whenever I try, my layouts never come out like the sketch anyway. I'm like you---I just start moving things around until I like the way it looks.

ReplyDeleteLovely page and I love that busy background paper. Geez, I can't do a page without a sketch. I love hearing the scrapping process of other scrappers. I glue down as I go and consequently unglue also along the way. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the background paper, how it ties in and helps the most important part of the page pop. Have wondered a few times if ya'll continued to make cola or if it was a one and done thing.

ReplyDeleteIt looks great - I'm not good at doing sketches but a template seems to work for me. Funny the difference.
