Me On Monday

It was a weekend of two halves:

Saturday, which was the first half, made it a crazy party kind of a weekend. A Hey, Little E! how grand to be six! weekend. A drive to the seaside-ing, small friend meeting, sit at the side and watching, coffee drinking, candle blowing, cake eating, back to Little E's for some present opening, late home again kind of a weekend. And there's very little which could top that.

But Sunday, which was the second half, had a very good try. Sunday made it a lovely relaxing, stay at home for Mothers Day weekend. A flower smelling, chocolates choosing, new Pilates top loving, card opening, phone answering (him to me), phone calling (me to Mum), special chicken dinner enjoying, pavlova scoffing kind of a weekend. Hard to beat.

Me On Monday?

Well, when they led me to the kitchen table on Sunday morning they asked me to remember that bit in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: that bit in which Clarke goes to hide the presents and ends up discovering an old Mothers Day gift he had completely forgotten about. Then they asked me to close my eyes and hold out my hands..

..for a special Christmas tower of Jaffa Cakes. Which had been forgotten about. Really. Sell By dates? I laugh in the face of Sell By dates. Especially where Jaffa Cakes are concerned.

Have a great week!

Last week Miriam, Rinda, Starnitesky, Doris, Fiona, Rachel B, Susanne, Ladkyis, Krafty Karen, Deb, Eileen T and Alison all gave us a wave and invited us to share what they'd been up to. Go on, give 'em a wave back. Or give us a wave with a "Monday" of your own? Especially if it has Jaffa Cakes.

  1. Glad they spoiled you. I love the picture of you and the forgotten christmas present. Totally in agreement on sell by dates although a friend did give us a box of Thortons mints that were not only out of date they were totally inedible! We don't let her forget that!

  2. I wouldn't even bother to look at the sell by date on a box of Jaffa cakes....though they would have to be well hidden in our house to last that long!!

  3. That would never happen in our house!

  6. Does this mean that me and Little E are birthday twins? I thought we had a lot in common, this explains it! The only difference being that I've celebrated being 6 nine and half times now!
Sounds like you had a great weekend, not many people can boast that they got a Christmas present in March!

  15. Six already?! I'll bet his birthday was a great celebration. And it sounds like your Mothering Day celebration was fine as well. Love the belated Christmas gift---it's happened here more than once.

  25. This did make me smile! Jaffa cakes don't need a sell by date! Although when we found a part opened pack under Ben's bed when he moved out and saw the date was over 3 years we didn't eat them lol!
