Early, Early..and a winner

Flipping through this year's holiday photos has me turning back to my old favourites from last year. It's not hard. They're still - ahem - sitting in a pile on the side of my desk.

But at least I knew where I was headed when the "sunburst" theme appeared in Studio Calico's Trendspotting class. I signed up for this on a whim and I've been dipping in and out - metallics, neon, wood grain, a few ides to keep my pages looking fresh.

This is my version of Lisa Truesdell's tutorial piece for the "sunburst" lesson. I ended up doing my stitching as cobblestones, though, and not sun rays. I drew round an ancient piece of chipboard and stitched on the machine, leaving the ends and edges deliberately rufty tufty to echo the grass in the photo.

It was a beautiful morning, then. So early the museum wasn't properly open to the public and the guide borrowed a key from the little office. We let ourselves into the houses and, with no one else around, we felt we had slipped back in time. As the sun rose over the harbour and the town started to wake, we pulled ourselves back into the present and headed back to the ship.

Tufty stitching, a Studio Calico wood veneer star and a sun and rooster cut with the Slice.

That's my page for today. Before I go I have a winner to announce. Alinor I pulled your name from the hat in my All Change giveaway. If you would like to email me your address I'll get your prize in the post. Thanks for taking part!

  21. I go away for a week and it's all change! Loving the new look (although I loved the old look too) especially the underlining of the title. It reminds me of hand writing practise at school.
