Twine Pompoms

I've been having a bit of a thing with string lately. Sandra from Gotta Craft sent me some of the new MME twine and I think it's lovely. I made a few little pompoms for the blog and I thought you might like to see them too:

I pulled out a little bow maker I've had since my miniature making days


I wrapped the twine round about eight times


I threaded a needle with embroidery thread so that it was easy to pass it under the twine. Then I tied a tight knot.


I slipped the pompom off the bowmaker and fluffed it up.


Then I used it to dress up a Crate paper journaling card for a quick tag.

    These are so cute, Sian! My granddaughters would love making these too, and they would make gorgous flower heads. You've got me thinking!

    I hadn't thought of using twine to make mini pom poms. I've only done them with fibres wrapped around my fingers. Much easier with that handy little gadget:)

    Now that is Clever! I used to make pom-poms when I was a kid, but they were so complicated - wrapping yarn round and round and round, through two circles of card... yawnnnn...
    But this looks so Easy, yet so very effective. The journalling tag looked really gorgeous when you had finished (and of course, yellow is my all-time absolute favourite colour).

    Isn't it strange how butcher's twine is suddenly so popular? I love that idea and might just get my granddaughter to make some pom poms one day after school - oh, what about today LOL

    Oh these pom poms are too cute!! What a great way to use twine!! A lovely card and I just totally love the look of twine on cards! My card making is helping me to use up my life time supply of twine that I ordered! ;)

    Oooh I've missed so many of your posts! I've never seen pom poms made this way - only the way where you cut the cardboard circles and thread wool round and round and round and round and round... Yours are very cute :)

    Been spending a lovely 10 minutes sitting here with a cuppa and catching up, love the story of your sampler and the dinged tin. Such precious memories captured forever.
