Five Things I Need Explained This Week

Five things I've been wondering about this week:

1. Why border punches feel the need to throw up all over the floor. And how long can I look at the mess before I give in and haul the vacuum cleaner up the stairs.

2. Why the postman manages to sense when I have left the house and decides to try and deliver a parcel the minute I go out.

3. Why the phone always rings when my hands are wet.

4. Why school asked The Tall One to bring in stamps for posting out his exam results the day postal charges went up.

5. Why the engineers working down the road turned the water off just before I needed to cook pasta. Leaving me approximately 15 minutes to - what? BAKE POTATOES??

Have a great weekend, whatever you are up to!

  1. Oh I'm glad these things happen to you as well.
    Mine is
Why can't I find the thing I have just put down
Why is it when I have thrown the water away I find I have missed washing a cup or worse a saucepan
Why does the time go so quickly when I am on the internet but so slowly when I am waiting for the Taxi to arrive
Why does the sun shine so brightly when I have to stay in but the moment I go out it rains
Why do I run out of time

  3. I currently have corner chomped pieces all over the living room floor - nice to know I'm not the only crafter with this issue! x

  4. What I've always wanted explained is why it always starts to rain at 3pm when I'm about to do the school run! Have a good weekend Sian.

  5. Why indeed?!
Water on my hands when the phone rings I can cope with - for me, it usually rings when I've been chopping meat! And then I find I've won a cruise or someone wants to give me a new kitchen!!! Except that we all know that there's no such thing as a free lunch don't we?

  6. And why do those border punches keep jamming...or is that something I'm doing wrong??!!

  7. If it's any consolation, you're not alone! Just sometimes it feels as if the world is out to get you!
Can't believe your school makes you pay to get results - we only do that if you are going to be on holiday when they come out, normally the students come in and collect them. You clearly need to move to this area ;-)

  8. LOL!!! & how lovely that I can hear the ironic humour in your voice as I'm reading!!! BTW I am so enjoying 'I Think I Love You'...I am transported back to 1974 every time I open the cover...& I'm reading the whole thing in a welsh accent...thanks so much for sending it on!!! :)

  9. I've also wondered about the border punches - even when punched directly over the trash can!

  10. lol!! these things always happen, for me it's the school run at 3pm and the heavens open or the ice cream van turning into our road just as we sit down to dinner!!

  11. BUt, but, BUT... ~drops her voice to a whisper~
It's the Karma Pixies. They see what we are doing and how good we feel and they have special magical wet blankets to throw over all happiness, didn't you know?
They are the reason you never say things like, "What a wonderful day!" out loud. They hear it and stor it up against you. All good stuff gets you points awarded on the bad stuff list and just when you don't need it.....
The Karma Pixies live behind the fridge. They sit on the wires and swing their legs, you can hear them, waiting and scoring.....
I have said too much, they will strike me soon..........aaarrrgggghhhhh!

  13. why does my nose itch when Im washing up?

Why can't I remember all the other things that bug me?? lol
    Great post Sian xx

  14. Haha - cute post, Sian. :o)

I'm with you on those border punches! And last week I scooped up a handful of border droppings and tossed them into the hanging garbage bag at my craft table, only to have them fall straight through to the floor because my cat had chewed a little hole in the bottom of the bag. ~sigh~ This reminds me...I still need to vacuum in there...

    Have a lovely weekend! xo

  15. hee hee These are some of the mysteries of life! I too have border punch throw up on the carpet of my studio! My pups also delight in pulling long paper strips out of the garbage can and chewing them into small pieces to leave on the carpet with the border punch throw up. DD sleeps next to the studio and sometimes she walks down the hallway covered with paper in order to get to her bathroom! Oh well, it is a clean mess! Have a wonderful weekend! :)

  17. Great list Sian. My own current 'favourite' would have to be: Why does hubby ALWAYS walk into the room as I am about to disappear into blogland and worse, he asks me what I'm doing!!

  18. I always find the telephone rings just as I have sat on the Loo! Why does the hubby decide to mow the lawn and bring in all the bits of mud and cut grass when I have just washed the kitchen floor? Why does DS always need the loo or bathroom just as I am about to walk in there? It's not us Sian, it's them!

  19. The postie always seems to hit when I nip out too, such a bummer that I then have to wait another day. Thank you for the sweet comment, I have been wanting to share sooner but time has been cruel!
    Have a lovely weekend Sian.

  20. lol to keep us on our toes and life not dull?! In the US they increase postal rates so often that they now have a Forever stamp. You buy it at the current rate and even if rates go up it is good for first class postage. I, too can't believe you have to pay to get the results!

  21. I am with you on the bits of paper everywhere. I sweep it up and turn around and there is more, I am sure that someone is waiting until I have swept and then throwing another handfull down!

    Have a lovely weekend.

  22. I'm with you on the phone ringing always at the wrong time!

  23. Oh, dear! If ever you do find the answers, do please let us know! I think my favourite was when I popped to the post office to collect a package I'd missed the day before, and got back to discover I'd just missed ANOTHER package, *sigh*...

  24. Yeah and now the border punches are supersized so they leave more throw ups ##@%!

  25. The circumstances may be somewhat different, but I bet we all can relate to this post! Sorry it's all happened at once!

  26. Thanks for the giggle, Sian.

  27. Ha! You're not the only one with punched pieces all over the floor!

And I can't believe you have to pay to get the exam results posted!!

  28. The phone rings and, fool that I am, I answer it instead of letting it go to voicemail. Invariably, it's from someone I don't care to talk to who is selling something I don't want or need. Then, when I interrupt their spiel, they get upset at me for being rude. My question: who, exactly, is paying the phone bill here??

    ReplyDelete
  29. I totally agree about the border punches - I hold mine over the trash can when I punch and yet still some little pieces escape to the carpet!! UGH

  30. great questions! i have a few of my own along those lines that i would love to have answered. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hehe, brilliant questions... Mine is why does someone always ask me to do something the minute I sit down! Why couldn't they have asked earlier? :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. OH I can so relate to 1,2 and 3. As for turning the water off that's usually when I've got the laundry on the go. ARGH!

  33. This is a fabulous post Sian, I'm with lots here on those border punches, but I wish they were 'up the other way' in fact why aren't all punches 'up the other way' I also think you have the same postman as us!! lol x
