I like:
1. A quick trip into town, stopping off at the bookshop first, then a rifle through the magazines in Smiths (I always buy something), then over to Paperchase. This week I need to hunt out a special Mother's Day card for my Mother-in-Law who only accepts the wording "Mothering Sunday" (anything else just isn't official). Then it's a paperbag full of toffee bonbons from the tobacconists and home again in time for lunch.
2. A chance to read my new magazine and then make something in peace. That means finding a little DIY job for The Accountant and his willing, small assistant. This week they are on plumbing - in The Adventure of the Minty Mould. Don't ask.
3. A delicious dinner I haven't had to cook myself. I need to go to my Brother-in-Law, Kenny-Who-Cooks, for that. Or I could throw something in the Slow Cooker very quickly and then run away and pretend it wasn't me.
4. A new DVD to watch, courtesy of the Love Film subscription friends bought us for Christmas. This week it's a girls' pick - "The Illusionist" an animation we hope will be lovely to look at.
5. A walk by the sea. I wish they'd wait for me, though, I can never keep up..
My mother only liked cards that said Mothering Sunday.
ReplyDeleteWant to swap weekends? I'm taking DS to a birthday party this afternoon ~ all 30 of his nursery class. Can you imagine ...
ReplyDeletesounds like a great Saturday! enjoy!
ReplyDelete;-) I have Ruth's situation planned for tomorrow at 11.30am ... think of me!
ReplyDeleteI also have a brother-in-law just like yours, very handy actually!
Sounds like a perfect weekend to me too! Especially the trip to Paperchase and the walk by the sea. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a fab weekend :) My Mum also would prefer if we still called it Mothering Sunday but unfortunately the card companies think its too old fashioned & too long!
ReplyDeleteWe are off to see my MIL this afternoon & then tomorrow we go to my parents for Sunday lunch mmmmm. Enjoy your 'me time' xx

ReplyDeleteOoh toffee bonbons in a little white paper bag, that brings back memories!

Your comment about Mother's Day cards reminded me of a Hallmark advertising campaign from several years ago...where the mother turned the card over to check whether it was a Hallmark or not. If it was, all was well; if not, not so good. I wonder how many people still buy Hallmark cards because of the not-so-subliminal message of those commercials.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a perfect weekend to me, enjoy....
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a perfect weekend...I'm a sucker for magazines as well....this week it's 'Simply Homemade'....I also have a BIL who cooks.....though BBQs are his real speciality...and am also lucky enough to live near the sea and take walks there.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend.
sounds lovely, i can imagine the small one coming in handy with the mould!!! for me this weekend is not forgetting to change my clocks tonight, heehee, church tomorrow and a trip to town later for a charity tea and cake thing my dads involved in,

ReplyDeleteSounds like a good weekend to me. I love a mag to read with a cuppa. Have a good one.
ReplyDeleteHope you get that perfect weekend! At least if you get left behind on your seaside walk, then you can enjoy the company of your own thoughts. :) Is Kenny in the market for making and baking? I'd like to outsource all our culinary needs!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful weekend. Can't wait till we're back home & I can enjoy a do nothing one. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect Saturday.
ReplyDeletethat does sound perfect! have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletesuch a BEAUTIFUL film. enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful weekend! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteThat walk along the seafront sounds good (even if it is a little breezy and bracing today!)
ReplyDeleteA certain football match means that the husband is glued to the tv this afternoon, our son is taking part in the protest in London and daughter is working. Lots of blog hopping time for me ;-)
Sounds perrrrrfect (sneaking on from my desk in the middle of a 9.5 hour shift!)
ReplyDeleteI love that photo - blustery but cosy too!
Your weekend sounds wonderful Sian!
ReplyDeleteCount me in on the trip to paperchase - one of my fave shops. Hope you enjoyed your saturday.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love today's photograph. I'm surprised you don't make cards. . . you'd be sooo good at it.
ReplyDeleteRinda
Lovely photo - sounds ike a perfect w/end to me too. Why don't you make Mothering Sunday cards?
ReplyDeleteSounds perfectly blissful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely list. And, of course, stopping at the bookstore first is the most important! :>)
ReplyDeletemy MIL insists on Mothering Sunday too! Hope yor weekend continues to be relaxing and fun xxx
ReplyDeleteGreat list! LOVE the picture you used as well. AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteMmmm Sounds perfect Sian, I did laugh at the suggestion to run from the slow cooker though! I tend to use the crock pot during the week when life is crazy :)
ReplyDeleteYummy toffee bonbons! What a perfect ingredient!
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of your weekend! I was lucky enough not to have to cook on Friday or Saturday as we went out for dinner :). I did manage to get some scrapbooking done (first time in months!!) and I've read a couple of magazines but haven't dared start another book or I won't do anything else. I guess all that was missing really was the DVD and the walk along the sea front! xx
ReplyDeleteThat does sound a good weekend :-) My Nan only accepts cards with 'Mothering Sunday' so Mum often spends hours trying to find one. Occasionally she remembers that she could ask me to make one....
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of walking by the sea.
ReplyDeleteThat does sound like a wonderful weekend :)
ReplyDeleteI love the photo Sian and your perfect weekend sounds perfect for me but could I swap the toffee bonbons for cake?
ReplyDeleteEven though I've been reading blogs from England for over a year, I don't think I've ever heard the phrase "Mothering Sunday." I love the photo on this post!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab weekend. Lorraine BFS
