Oh Dave You Doll

As I wandered round on Saturday morning Craft Market here last week, it seemed to me that everyone was looking and admiring, but not buying. Maybe, like me, they were thinking - that would make a great Christmas present, but it's a little too early to start putting things away just yet.

It's hard not to think ahead just a bit, with all those back-to-school things appearing everywhere just now, though. The first present I tucked away last year was a doll. I spotted a little piece about personalised character dolls in Mollie Makes magazine and I immediately thought of - Uncle Dave: my brother who lives in the US. For some reason it suddenly seemed important that I buy him a mini-me. I thought the idea of an alter ego would make him laugh, so I looked up Timo Handmade on Etsy, liked what I saw (very much!) and sent a message. Yes,the reply came back, quick and friendly, a Dave Doll was definitely do-able. I sent a photo and a description; and we didn't have to wait long for our Dave Delivery.

We pulled him out of the box and gasped..there was Dave, right there, on the coffee table! Timor had got him just right. Eventually, of course, we had to wrestle him back into the box and parcel him up and he travelled back to the States in the suitcase of the full size Dave. But,maybe you are thinking what I'm thinking? Who might be next? Little E? Miniaturised?
