..so I made a page and here it is:
Round here in April:
Hot
- A visit from Little E. always a pleasure. He watched his Uncle search for a cloth to clean his swing with and then he pointed: "Why don't you just use your karcher?" Of course he'd know what it was..it's just like a big vacuum cleaner, really
- The discovery of Parma Violet sweet flavoured icecream. I love Parma violets more than I love icecream, but the two together? Perfect; even if we do have to drive right across town for it.
- Helping a friend make a dress for a Katy Perry impersonator. Good fun.
- Guide Camp! The (Not So) Small One spent her first night under canvas and she swears she'll be back for more. Even if frying bacon on a campfire gives you sunburn. She looks like she has been skiing.
- Our holiday is getting closer. Oh, St. Petersburg, we can hardly wait..
Not
- A new hairdresser. The jury's out. The camera is hidden. At least for a few days yet..
Now let's see what May has to offer. The emails for the Great Big Swap of Very Small Things went out this afternoon: so if you asked to be included and you haven't heard from me please do get in touch. The numbers are big, but I think we can do it. We're going around the world in (very nearly) sixty swaps! remember, you have until the end of May to get your parcel in the post.
And finally for today: a reminder of Storytelling Sunday this weekend. I hope I'll see you there!
Sorry to hear about the hairdresser - are you in hiding? One consolation is it does grow back, and the second that there are always lots of hairdressers around :). Parma violet ice-cream? I thought I'd have to get to heaven first! Is it commercially available? I am off to google. Those little lilac tubes ... Sigh! Oh, and a very pretty page :).
ReplyDeleteNew hairdresser, always risky. hearing about Little E, always a delight.
ReplyDeleteI went to a new hairdresser a few weeks ago. Still haven't shared photos of it. Not a good choice on my part.
ReplyDeleteI agree....trying out a new hairdresser always feels like a bit of a risk....but as Alexa says....it will grow back....or you may even grow to like it. Different can be good....eventually!
ReplyDeleteSt. Petersburg? Guide camp? Defintely hot (though I have only experienced the latter) Not so sure about violet ice cream though
ReplyDeletethat'll be me on Friday then with a new hairdresser. Parma violets.....oh this is definitely a NOT!! :)
ReplyDeleteAs my hairdresser is my daughter, I have little say on what is done. I suspect her decisions are made on how much time she has before she has to go out!
ReplyDeleteSt Petersburgh sounds exciting, can't wait to see what scavenger photos you find!
Think I'd have to try that ice cream before knowing if it appeals to me, I'm not a fan of those sweets!
St Petersburg is one of the prettiest cities I´ve ever seen. :) Yay for your (not so) small one liking the experience! :)
ReplyDeleteParma violets ice cream ..... I WANT! ... Lol sorry I don't remember anything after seeing that. Oh yum :)
ReplyDeleteParma Violet ice cream sounds amazing! A flash from the past but I can remember them well.
ReplyDeleteAs for new hairdressers - I can feel the pain. I spent years trying to find someone I trust and who does what I ask. Finally I have someone and I would dread her leaving and having to go through that all over again. Hope you are happy with your hair once it has had time to settle.
Parma violet icecream! I need to find some! We used to joke when we were children that the sweets tasted like how perfume smelt!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of parma violet ice cream, but I'd be willing to give it a go. I have no fear of having to use a new hairdresser - but I do have a fear of letting the old hairdresser give me a new style. I hope your new-do works once you get used to it.
ReplyDeleteYour Hot/Not hot posts and the pages that go with them always manage to make me smile. It looks to me like you have received your Citrus Twist kit too ;) and loving how you've used the Crate Paper bits! I have a huge problem with finding good hairdresser here too....
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried a new hairdresser in nearly 30 years. Right after Sarah was born, I tried a new one to save the time of a rather lengthy drive. I decided within a couple of months, the drive was well worth it!
ReplyDeleteWhen do you leave on your cruise? We leave on our big trip is less than two weeks now. I think I'm almost ready.
Two weeks & counting 'til the private school where I'm teaching is done for the year! (Not that I'm counting or anything LOL)
ReplyDeleteThanks for organizing the swap - I'm looking forward to putting something together to send off in the mail! And I have my post all ready for Sunday since I missed the last couple!
I love this page. It reminds me of a nature journal.
ReplyDeleteRinda
New hairdresser! nightmare. I am still waiting (weeks and weeks) for mine to grow. It looked ok in the salon!
ReplyDeleteYour page is so pretty, I love the page from the book, you have such interesting things on your pages. I'm sure STS was just last week, wasn't it?
Parma Violets aren't my thing but ice cream is... I'm willing to try a bit and then leave the rest for you ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah for visits and yep we're counting down days here too. Lots of revision going on and discussions of uni bits.
Love the sound off Parma Violet ice cream...I tried the new Ben and Jerry peanut butter one while in the uk- yum!...love the layout!
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
A terrific April LO. I always look forward to reading this post. Oh that Little E. he really is all about the Hoover. He is sooooo cute!
ReplyDeleteWe have a school countdown going on here - only 5 school days of lessons left them Emily is on study leave and writing her GCSE finals. We do still have 2 years of A Levels to go though :) xx
ReplyDeleteI took a leap and moved to a new hairdresser nearly three years ago now ... the first colour wasn't right, in fact, it wasn't good as she underestimated how much red I had naturally in my hair - think of a cross between Sarah Ferguson and Lucille Ball. Anyway ever since she has been spot on and despite the shaky start, it was the best hair decision I have ever made!
ReplyDeleteI have no clue what Parma violets are, I will have to google them in a minute :) Hooray for the upcoming trip. I finally bit the bullet and found someone to do my color and it is amazing..thankfully...she's a fellow church member.
ReplyDeleteOh I do hate having to get a new hairdresser
ReplyDeleteHow clever is little E - no flies on that boy
I cant believe how quickly the year is jurtling along - too scary really
Suzy xx
Ooh, Parma violet ice cream, that sounds fab. I will have to look out for it. Have funx
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to know that the "hot" items on your list outnumber the "not so hot" ones. And hopefully your new haircut will soon sort itself out...
ReplyDeleteOoh I love parma violets. My Gran always had little packets of them to share. I feel your pain with the hairdresser. I had a terrible experience when I first moved here and didn't set foot in a salon for over 2 years after that!

Tesco used to do a really cheap body spray that smelled so much (to me) like Parma Violets. Then, with no warning, they changed the scent to some yucky most un-violet like smell. Unimpressed was I.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of karchering the swing :P It would probably end up swinging round and round the top bit.
I love the sound of what's hot and it's great there's only one thing on the not list :)
ReplyDeleteOhhh I hate the thought of trying out a new hairdresser but if mine keeps costing more I'm going to have to. You'll love St. Petersburg - are you there for 2 days or 3? We were there for 2 and believe me we crammed as much in as we possibly could. I need to go back & look at my blog from those days so I can relive it.
ReplyDeleteYou lost me on the karcher! I hope the hair has sorted itself out by now. I'm finally catching up after a busy few weeks!
