Wonderful, Wonderful..

When I saw Hans Christian Andersen disappearing round the corner, I knew I was in the right place. He had a purple tailcoat, a black stove pipe hat; and his audience in the palm of his hand. Of course. A walking tour of Copenhagen with the man himself? Maybe next time. We were on a coach tour. But we were headed to the place of dreams..to someone I'd wanted to see since I'd watched Danny Kaye, late seventies, wet Saturday afternoon.

And there she is. The Little Mermaid. She's tiny; but at least she wasn't missing any limbs. The Guide told us that bits of her sometimes disappear overnight. The Danes blame the Swedes. Seems to me that idiot sounds the same in any language. My faithful photography companion was happy to pose beside her (funny, all girls look that size alongside that hair. It's not just mermaids. They seem to like it..). The others were back on the bus. a bit Denmark-ed out. It had been a busy day.

We had visited the Crown Jewels at Rosenborg Castle. So relaxed, we were even allowed to take pictures!

As always, it was the little details I enjoyed the most: a stylish, but practical, modern resting spot for visitors in the middle of the grandeur and a plain, painted door singing open to reveal a throne beyond.

We had time for a little shopping. Little E - I know you are reading. Tell your Mum her watering can came from that very shop.

And we discovered that Legoland really exists

Next stop? That would be Sweden..
