It's that time of year again, when we gather together the photos, the programmes, the tickets and the triumphs. We pull the school albums from the shelf and make sure they are updated before the new school year begins. Sometimes The Small One pounces on her other album while she's there. It's a mix of pages she made (when I first started scrapbooking and wanted to play along) and pages she asked me if she could keep. All from the early days.
And it was in this album I found a perfect candidate for Shimelle's Add More to the Story challenge:
This layout is nearly three years. It's kind of quirky, but I still like it. It does have a bit of journaling, just enough to tell the story, up there in the top right. (It also has three little cut out Small Ones - spot them?). But last night I found a tag and a long piece of ribbon and added the next stage.
I simply stapled the ribboned tag onto the side; and I think the journaling tells you the rest.
She doesn't know about it yet. I thought I would leave it as a surprise for her to find sometime in the future, the next time the album appears. Unless she is reading today, of course. In which case - it's still on my desk, in front of the Glossy Accents. Don't forget to put it away when you are finished..
Whatever you are up to this Tuesday, I hope it's a good one.

Ooh, that's amazing. What a great way to leave it for the future :D I love it! And that page is really cool.
I need to do this challenge, I think.
Love what you've added to it,Sian. Some of my early pages in DD1's album are sadly lacking in journaling...and Shim's challenge has got me looking back at them as well.
Lovely way to add more - I like the idea of surprising her with it some day!
I mean to look back over my earlier layouts, love your journalling idea
great job with this challenge Sian! I know that I have many many pages where I left space for journaling but never did it. Guess I need to go find them!
really fun, bright, positive page. and the 'layer' thing is so touching. a great idea.
such a loving page that is sure to always make your daughter feel treasured. i like the idea of adding to a page as time goes by - nothing is ever really finished, is it? :-)
I really love that you've added to this and that she may not see it until next year, how amazing.
I recognize that Sassafrass paper! Never knew what to do with mine, love what you did. Great use of the challenge, love how you added to an already special story.
This is so touching!!! I love how you interpreted this challenge by simply adding a tag! You rock ;) and I love the idea of your daughter finding it as a surprise later!
I loved all that fun Sassafrass paper! Great challenge to add more to the story. Shimelle has inspired me to start adding more to my journaling. I am always protecting the design. Crazy because it is not what is important on these LO's. Love the idea of getting the school albums in order before the next year begins! I have kept so much from my girls' school days. Just treasure it.
Such lovely words Sian, a very fitting addition to the original layout. Lovely!
Such lovely words Sian, a very fitting addition to the original layout. Lovely!
Perfect take on the challenge! And a reminder that I need to get after Clara's school days book.

awww...i wish you'd do my journaling for me Sian you say it so nicely!!
Lovely message for your daughter to treasure x
What a wonderful affirming note for her to stumble upon :)
the original layout was lovely but this new addition just made it extra special. she's so lucky that she will find this someday and know how you feel!
What a great addition to the layout - I'm sure she will enjoy the surprise. I think it's so important that we continue to compliment girls as they grow & change!
aah, how sweet! Wonder if she is reading ? Thanks for the Authentique feedback, must get some now. And can't believe you did that whale thing way back. Bet you didn't hit Provincetown on Bear weekend though LOL.
This is just lovely,Sian! I was looking at the page, at all the little gorgeous details, at the little sweet pictures of TSO peeping out from the various places you have hidden them... Recognising some of the details you had cut from various papers, the letters you used for the title...
Then there is the new message on a tag... How very wonderful.
And to leave it for TSO to find some time...
You're just a Fab mum, Sian - I hope your children appreciate you!
Love it! The Best Ever!
A lovely page crammed packed full of a mother's love xxx
The album looks fantastic, what a treasured record for your daughter to look back at in years to come.
Perfect! :) and hope that the glossy accents got put away!
Aww lovely what a surprise for her in the future x
What a good idea to 'just' add a tag...and I love the handwritten journalling!
Alison xx
A lovely idea for this challenge.
I loved the original but it's a lovely touch to add a new message with the tag. I hope she does go back and find it in the future but even if she finds it today I'm sure she'll appreciate it.
ooooh I love this! She'll have a lovely suprise when she next looks at it! I wonder if you will add anymore over the years?
Great addition to the page, it's a nice note for tso to read, whenever that happens! I like the quirkiness of the page too! X
Gosh, I miss having time to read blog posts as they appear and comment on them in a timely fashion! But it's fun to be able to catch up on several at once :) Loving all your layouts and stories, Sian, but what a fabulous idea to add this tag - so very special xx
What can I say Sian - just love it!
It's a great idea to go back and add something to a page, but I especially love the tag you have added, with a suprise note for TSO.
It's a lovely page too. Your children will have so many wonderful memories to share when they grow up.
That's such an amazing page. So different from your normal layouts, but I love the quirkiness and the added detail will make it all the more special.
What a wonderful expansion on the original idea. And leaving it for her to find as a surprise is just inspired! She will love it!
You know what Sian? You are a constant inspiration. I did a labyrinth themed page of my eldest with the infamous 'through dangers untold and hardships un-numbered..." speech on it, I left a little pocket to add some journalling explaining my choice of journalling. She thinks it's just because I love the film but really it explains how proud I am of the troubles she's come through in her short life and how strong she is on the oter side... you've prompted me to do it while I remember. I too was going to hide it for her to find.
http://whoopidooings.blogspot.com/2009/09/labyrinth-page.html <- That one ;) She's up at the mo but will do it while she's still slumbering in her pit tomorrow *g*
